This product is highly toxic to bees

    By Me on 09/04/2022

I must first say that the DoMyOwn website provided excellent product details, including all the PDF attachments, which helped me make an informed choice. The product was shipped quickly and arrived in 3 days (surprising), in a cardboard box, with plastic air pillows filling the void. There were 2 large neon orange labels on the outside of the box stating "Fragile" and "This end up", which Fedex ignored, since it was lying on it's side when delivered. However, everything was intact inside, no leakage at all. The product description on DoMyOwn website says "NOTE: Due to the size of this bottle, the product is not filled to the top and will appear at the halfway mark." That is true, if you include the entire height of the container up to the caps. I have never seen a bottle with a built-in "measuring chamber", and it didn't work well for me. It probably works better if you are a professional and filling a bigger sprayer, but for just 1-oz, I found that some of the fluid from the bottle ran into the measuring chamber before all of the 1-oz portion dripped out during pouring into a sprayer. With more use, as the volume in the bottle decreases, that shouldn't be an issue. However, if you only want to use 1/2 oz, there is no indicator mark on the measuring chamber for that small of an amount. The liquid is white, with a milky consistency, and I was pleased to see that it does not foam up when water is added. Instructions say "Talstar P does not provide an instant knockdown of pests, rather, pests pick up the residual active ingredient by contact." That was certainly true when spraying ants, they kept walking over the wet cement, but I trust that it will work as stated. I had been spraying Home Defense insecticide, and my experience is that it's great for killing insects when spraying directly on them, but has little or no residual effect after it dries, because I have seen insects walk across the surfaces I recently sprayed with no effect. I only used Talstar outside, and I didn't notice any product odor, and it didn't affect my breathing. There is one statement in the instructions that was of particular concern to me, "This product is highly toxic to bees exposed to direct treatment or residues on blooming crops or weeds. Do not apply this product or allow to drift to blooming crops if bees are foraging the treatment area". I have several flowering plants which the bees love, so I was careful not to go near them.

Amazed at how well it works!

    By Kbee on 10/21/2014

After years of being viciously attacked by the Asian Tiger mosquito here in NC, I have finally found something that lets me go outside again. Our mosquito problem was horrible due to the mass amount of shady trees and shrubs in our backyard. We we would be surrounded by Mosquitos any time of day and would be eaten alive within minutes. I've tried the yard sprays, the professional foggers, fans, sprays, you name it. They did nothing. This spray, however, is amazing. I can't believe that I can go outside and NOT GET ONE BITE. I used it on my shrubbery, trees and mulch beds. Using just a pump sprayer I sprayed well making sure to really get the shady areas under bushes and trees and around the house. The next day we were outside and didn't see or feel a single mosquito. Found a few dead crickets and palmettos on the driveway near where I sprayed, so I know it's working on those too. So far, after a month I am still happy with the results. I don't often write reviews, but this product got me to enjoy my backyard again, and I recommend this to anyone who needs help from those horrible Mosquitos!

Kills Bugs. Scorpions? Not So Much

    By Troy on 10/03/2015

I live in Phoenix where scorpions are a part of the landscape. Though my house is sealed, I spray outside to keep bugs and scorpions away. During the course of a month and a half, I have used 6 gallons of bug spray made with the Talstar P concentrate, spraying 2 gallons every other week. I am outside every night with a black-light and have not come across one dead scorpion (though I am killing plenty of alive ones nightly). This stuff doesn't seem to phase them at all. After my pup was stung last night, I decided it was time to leave a review. I bought this stuff based on other positive reviews concerning scorpions and so I am very surprised by the lack of effectiveness. If you are simply spraying for bugs, this should work for you if sprayed monthly. If you have scorpions, look elsewhere. 1.5 stars, considering I can buy regular bug spray concentrate at the box stores for a lot less.

    Talstar P Professional Works Great!

    By Derek on 06/04/2019

This product works great. Moved here last July and I have a zillion mosquitoes, black ants and red ants. Been bit 2 times by red ants the first month in my home. These ants were crawling all over my walkway and driveway and it was an absolutely ridiculous infestation. My guest had to spray themselves with mosquito spray and we would have to buy spray every month. I received quotes for Mosquito treatment and ant treatment and what a rip off. I decided to buy my own electric backpack and hand held pump tank and Talstar P which altogether was much less then one season of professional treatment. I used the backpack to spray the bushes, trees, deck, playhouse, house foundation, exterior windows, and the ground. Red and black ants went away and haven't seen any mosquitoes in a month. Spiders are gone as well. I can now enjoy my backyard mosquito free and it is great. I had guest over and they were surprised that there were no mosquitoes on my .70 acre wooded lot. I open my windows and spray the sill with the hand held tank and my whole crawl space. I see ants here and there and spot spray but it is a zillion times better. I even killed a wasp nest with this stuff. I also don't even use a ladder to spray high up on trees. The backpack sprayer spray about 15 ft up which is good enough. So glad I found this all in one insect repellent. Now if I can only find something for copperheads ha.

No Bug spray (98.1% DEET) and Headnet Required!!!!!!!!!

    By Greg on 07/10/2012

Our house is in the woods in Michigan on 5 acres that backup to almost 7,000 acres of State & Metro parks that have lots of water (swamps, river, ponds,& lakes). We joke that the State Bird is the Mosquitoe. Our yard, deck, porch, hot tub, driveway, garage, pole-barn where all un-useable because the mosquitoes would swarm you and you would be covered with bites in minutes everytime you go outside. They would bite through long sleeve t-shirts & clothing, I even used headnets to keep them from biting my head, neck and ears and I was always covered in bug spray (98.1% DEET) and would still get several bites everytime I went outside. After researching several products and companies that offer pest control ($280 for 4 months/applications), I purchased 3/4 gal of Talstar P and followed the directions. I sprayed about 1 acre area to provide a barrier around the areas listed above. By the next day, the mosquitoes numbers where down, by 3 days, I did not see any and we were able to sit on the deck & porch anytime, even the evenings and mornings. My son and I worked outside in front of the pole-barn until after dark on several nights in shorts and short sleeved t-shirts (no bug spray and no headnets), I got one bite on my ankle. TALSTAR P WORKS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The directions say it lasts about 1 month and it has worked well very for the last 3.5 weeks, I will apply the second application in a few days and we are looking forward to the rest of the summer being mosquitoe free.

    Great

    By Bridget on 06/06/2018

It was a dream to do business with DoMyOwn. We have a severe infestation of ants, and a moderate infestation of silver fish, rolly-pollies, and we've seen both German and oriental roaches in the house. Of course there are plenty of spiders feasting here too. Terminator companies are simply unaffordable for our income situation-- fortunately I finally stumbled upon DoMyOwn's website. The availability of professional products without the service charge of a terminator made insect control a possibility for our household which had a desperate need. I can't attach a photo for this review, but the pile of dead bug carcasses I swept from my bedroom alone speaks volumes about the efficacy of talstar p... all those bugs from just a thin line of product at the baseboards is simply amazing. I am sharing my success and product with my friends and family, and will be ordering more products from DoMyOwn. The other reason I am so pleased is because the company itself. The folks at DoMyOwn shipped to me promptly and when I had a concern about one of the products that I ordered, they addressed my concerns beyond what I had expected in response. Wow. Thank you. And the education they provide is sufficient to help an average Joe safely and effectively use these professional level chemicals. I have had my pesticide applicators licence for 3 years (in the past) but I used it for landscaping so I still needed education in how to deal with household infestations. This website has legitimate, great instructions that helped set me on the right path. Thank you again.

Best stuff I have ever used

    By Garry on 05/11/2013

OK so here it goes. Mix it according to directions or just a TADD stronger. Then Spray around the outside of the building with a 2 foot spray pattern from the walls. Make sure that all pet foods and water is not in the spray pattern area. I also sprayed all along my fence/block wall line from my neighbors property just in case that they had more bugs then I had. I also sprayed inside the house. When I did this I had removed all contents from every cabinet and drawer. Then I took out the last drawers and sprayed there. Make sure that you wash all dishes just in case I had contaminated the area. Make sure that you have now food in these areas and this includes pet foods. Now I want you to understand that you are doing this because you a BUG PROBLEM. Do not skimpy out on any of the steps. The next thing is to respray about every two weeks after tat for a month total. The reason for this is because you will kill the bugs running around but you wont kill all of the bugs that are in casing / eggs. Some bugs lay them very often and the spray may or will not penetrate them on contact until the bug has hatched from what ever they are encased in. The reason you need to do this that often is because of the mating cycles of these little critters. I have to tell you this is the best stuff I have ever used. When I do spray I usually have to vacuum up and sweep up outside all of the dead varmints that are laying around. It is truly amazing. Good luck and have fun. By the way you are not supposed to do t his but the average exterminator charges are quit high so you can save a lot of money doing this yourself and probably do a lot better job. If you do your friends places it is illegal to charge them unless you are licensed HINT HINT:::::: The bug man I had come to my home was 80 dollars per month and he came out twice a month for only a short time. This can be expensive so you do the math and see what you can save and how much money you can make. Did I SAY THAT OOPS. One more thing. I am going to buy a gallon the next time just in case we get some government regulation that say you can no longer buy this on the net or even at all. At least this will keep me supplied for a very long time. Good luck
