Not watering in Talstar XTRA Granules will not pose a threat to St. Augustine, but the product will not be activated until it is watered in. It should be watered in by irrigation or rainfall after application.
Talstar XTRA Granules leaves a residual of about 2 months. Rain will not wash the product away during that time frame.
Talstar XTRA typically lasts 60-90 days.
If you need to use 1.5-4.6 lbs of Talstar Xtra per 1,000 sq ft you would add the needed amount of product to spreader, start with a medium setting, then apply product to a 20 x 50 ft area (1,000 sq ft). If you have product left, your setting is too low. If you run out of product, your setting is too high.
Be sure to read the product label to determine the usage rate for your needs.
Talstar XTRA Granules would not affect armadillos at all. If you are looking for an armadillo repellent, we would recommend that you use something specifically labeled for them, such as Armadillo Scram Professional.
Talstar XTRA Granules would not be helpful against noseeums or other gnats. The liquid Talstar P would be a better option.
Talstar XTRA Granular Insecticide is not labeled to kill grubs or earthworms. There are no products on the market in the USA that are labeled for earthworms as they are largely beneficial creatures, however, this product could harm beneficial insects that come in contact with treated areas. We do have several products that are specifically labeled for grub worms on our website: Grub Worm Control. We also recommend that you contact your local cooperative extension office and inquire about the best time to start treatments for grubs in your region.
We would not recommend using Talstar XTRA Granular Insecticide in areas where chickens will be feeding. You should keep people and animals out of the treatment area until after the granules have been watered in and the application is completely dry. Please see the product label for complete application instructions. Please note that Talstar EZ Granules are no longer available, as they have been replaced by Talstar XTRA Granules.
For millipede control, you should use an insecticide barrier around the structure, but in order to eradicate them you must locate and eliminate their breeding source, which would be moist, dark areas, such as mulch beds or soil under groundcovers that has not been aired or turned. A great product to treat your lawn for mole crickets is Talstar XTRA Granules. When the mole crickets are small and young, they are much easier to control, but there will be little to no visible damage at this time. When damage is visible, usually in the spring, mole crickets are much larger and robust, which makes them harder to control. The best time to treat for moles crickets will be in the early life stages, when they are the most vulnerable. Talstar XTRA Granules does list ticks on the product label and gives instructions for using it for them. It would really only be good for the young ticks still in the soil and not those on plants, trees, rocks or other non soil areas, for these applications a liquid product would be recommended. We have a great Outdoor Flea/Tick Kit that we would recommend using.
Talstar XTRA Granules would not be helpful against flies. The liquid concentrate, Talstar P, would be a better option.
Talstar XTRA Granules is not labeled to control clover mites and would not be recommended. Instead you should use the liquid version, Talstar P.
