Superior product when it comes to Fire Ants , Fleas and Roaches . I spread over my yard and my Mothers yard on Lake Murray and within 2 days Ants were gone or dead ,fleas gone or dead , roaches gone or dead . It works fast and they stay out of yard / house for a minimum of 3 to 4 months before I see any return . I retreat the area and they are gone again !

Understood this killed sod webworms, bought based on DMO's SME recommendation for those specific bugs, as well as what was supposed to be a longer lasting residual. Put out a week ago, and zero change in moth and other bug population, even had a couple of new ant beds show up. Used at the suggested "high" rate also. Applied exactly as directions indicated. The only reason I rated a 2 star vs 1 star is that the grandules are fairly large and spread easily and in a uniform pattern. Not that it matters given the results, but that's why. So, I guess I will have to go back to spraying, doesn't last long but at least it kills off the bugs for a week or so before they return.

We apologize you did not achieve the intended results. Talstar Xtra does not prevent any new ants from moving into the area but as long as they contact the treated area they will die. Talstar Xtra granules were purchased based on these many reviews & to squash a fire ant problem in our backyard. I despise those suckers & we bought a new house with a decent yard, but ants abound. I want my kids to be able to enjoy their backyard & Talstar with the Xtra addition sounded like it was the solution. The transaction was seamless--Do My Own did not disappoint there. But this product surely did. Just days after receiving the bag, I followed the instructions to a t & during morning hours I treated the whole yard with a broadcast application using a Scott's spreader. Followed with a perimeter application & then fire ant mound application on a couple of mounds spotted while doing the broadcast app. The product seemed to work on the above ground mounds only. Treated the perimeter, all along my concrete backyard patio more than once & watered those granules well. Bugs of all kinds were "running for the hills" & scrambling everywhere. But still seeing ants all over the edge of the patio & they are coming from areas that were treated & even retreated after a few days. Have seen the ants traveling through the grass there & it's been over a week since the initial application. Now it is peak summertime & they likely are well into the ground in underground colonies. But they are active during morning hours & that's when we still see them everywhere. No new visible mounds though yet. That's why I'm giving it 2 stars. Disappointed I wasted my money & time on this product. Not as effective as the advertising leads you to believe--at least not in my case. I will head to my local feed store to speak to someone for advice. But this Talstar Xtra is $$$ & not the answer for fire ants.

This product worked great... at first. Applied it correctly and it was like a nuclear bomb went off - no ants, no crickets, no anything. However, a week or so went by and the ants were back. Why? Probably because of local control. I have lots of sandy spots and those don't take to the poison well? I find the liquid talstar HARDER to apply, but it works better in all conditions. For some reason the granular works well for yards and areas with no sand, etc. The granules are also hard to spread in landscape beds. Talstar as a whole is the BEST so maybe the answer is to buy granular for the grassy areas that are usually large and hard to cover with spray and then buy the spray for the landscaping beds and sandy spots in your lawn. Either way BE CAREFUL this stuff is so toxic that in minutes lizards, crickets, and ants start to flee their hiding places and you'll find them everywhere... dead! 5 stars for the liquid Talstar for sure, 4 stars for Talstar XTRA because despite the fact it has pretty ant(s) on the packaging it is not that great for ant(s) and may not work around planting beds, near sidewalks, and/or empty patches in lawns.
