Connecticut is one of the strictest states regarding limiting purchase and application of insecticide concentrates by persons without a Pest Control Operator's license. Two great options for ant control that include a non-repellent active ingredient are Arilon Insecticide (like a sprayable bait), or Transport Mikron Insecticide (dual-active ingredient). Please let us know if we can further assist you.

Our most popular spray for ant control outdoors around structurers is Taurus SC. This is a liquid concentrate that you would apply with a hand pump sprayer and treat all around the foundation of the structure, treating 1 foot up onto the house and 1 foot out from it on the ground. You should also spot treat places where the ants are likely to enter such as door frames, window frames, and where utilities enter. Taurus SC is pet safe once the application is dry. You can learn more tips and see videos in our Ant Treatment Guide, too.
Taurus SC Termiticide is really the superior product between it and the Dominion. If you applied as directed and treated the soil well in the area you would not need to go over with Dominion. If the soil was not wet enough after applying 4 gallons over 10 lineal feet, you can go back with a mix of the Taurus to make sure the soil was treated properly.
Taurus SC Termiticide can only be sprayed 1 ft up and 1 ft out directly up against the foundation of the structure twice a year at 0.8 fl oz per gallon. Taurus SC Termiticide can be applied prior to pouring concrete slabs, etc. You can trench each individual pier as well for termite prevention. It is very important to apply more around the perimeter edges of the slab, around plumbing pipes that will come through the slab, and along expansion joints if you know where they will be. Since these are the more likely entry points of termites you want to make sure you treat more heavily around these areas. You should take general precautions when applying any product which would be to wear gloves, protect your eyes if it is windy, and treat only in the designated area where your slab will be poured.
One finished gallon of Taurus SC Termiticide should cover approx 1000 sqft. It should only be applied with a pump or backpack sprayer.

When you have any concrete against the home (such as a patio or garage that shares walls with inside rooms) that prevents you from trenching across it, you have to drill holes ever 12 inches apart and treat each hole with roughly 1/2 to 1 gallon of mixed solution. Each hole should be drilled with a bit that is roughly 1/2 wide and 18 inches long. Please review the Taurus SC Product Label and our article How To Do A Termite Treatment for all the proper techniques for a home owner to treat this area. If drilling is not an option you would at least trench around the non concrete walls and around the piers in the crawl space. For inside walls of the crawl space this is usually only done when you have an active infestation but you can do for just prevention if you choose.
Taurus SC Termiticide is highly toxic to honey bees and should not be used in areas where they are known to forage or frequent.

The Taurus SC Termiticide product label only allows indoor applications to wall voids (behind sheet rock), unfinished attics, unfinished basements, and crawlspaces for active termite infestations. Taurus SC Termiticide could be harmful if used indoors and would be in violation of the product label. We would recommend using Phantom indoors as an alternative.
