    Q
Can I use Tempo 1% Dust on a crack where yellow jackets are entering? Can I just dust there or do I need the puffer?
Yellow jackets in concrete steps and cannot see nest. Spray useless as they are probably far from crack
    A

Yes, we would highly recommend to apply Tempo 1% Dust to that area where you think the nest is. The adults will carry the dust into the larvae. We also recommend to use a duster like the Long Shot Puffer Duster

    Q
Does Tempo 1% Dust work for a clothes moth infestation on carpet?
    A

Tempo 1% is labeled for Clothes Moths and is recommended to be applied to cracks and crevices in closets and other storage areas. This is an adjunct treatment and will not control moth larvae and silverfish already on the clothes. Do not apply to clothing. Please see the product label for specific application instructions.

    Q
Can I use Tempo 1% Dust to kill carpenter ants in my oak tree?
I was told it would work to kill the ants by putting dust on my tree and in the ground around my tree.
    A

If you already have the Tempo Dust, you could certainly use that to dust the area the carpenter ants are coming in and out of along the tree. Any that walk through it will pick it up on their bodies and transfer it through the colony. However, if you have not yet purchased the Tempo 1% Dust, drenching the root zone, trunk and activity points of the tree with a product like Dominion 2L would likely provide a more thorough elimination of the carpenter ant colony in its entirety.

  • Asked by Jack from Waelder, Tx

    Q
What can I use to treat bees inside a wall?
The bees have been there about 4 to 6 weeks and I will have to drill holes in the wall to get the insecticide at them. Will this do the trick and will I need multiple holes (how much expansion from wine small hole should I expect)?
    A

What we would recommend doing first is to locate local bee keepers by contacting your local cooperative extension office.  Many bee farmers will come remove honey bees free of charge because of the recent decline in the honey bee population. If this is not an option for you, you can use a hand duster to apply a dust product such as Tempo Dust into and around the area where the bees seem to be gaining access to your home. Over a period of a couple of days to a week (timeline will depend on how many bees are contacting the treated area) this will kill off the colony that has taken up residence in your home. Any insecticide applications should be done very early in the morning or very late in the evening when the bees are less active. After the bees have been eliminated it is important to remove the bee hive from the void where the bees were nesting. Failure to remove the hive can lead to mold issues and secondary infestation from hive beetles and other insects. If the bee hive is in an area that is not easily accessible you may want to consider hiring a professional pest control operator.

    Q
What product can I use as a residual pesticide for spiders in electrical boxes such as fuse box, outdoor AC unit, etc?
    A
We highly recommend applying an insecticide dust such as Tempo 1%. You will apply a couple puffs in each electrical outlet, light switch plate and other areas where it is not safe to apply a liquid solution for insect control. You can apply the product using a dust applicator such as the B&G Bulb Duster 1150.

    Q
Can I mix Tempo 1% Dust with Cimexa dust to get better results?
    A
Yes, you can certainly mix the Tempo 1% Dust and the Cimexa Dust together and apply them with a bulb duster to cracks and crevices for the control of a variety of pests. The Tempo will allow for a quicker initial knock down of the pests and the Cimexa will serve as your long term control.

    Q
Is it OK to puff a little Tempo 1% Dust on carpets that do not receive access such as under larger couches and chairs, or TV wall units?
    A

Tempo 1% Dust is not labeled to be applied to carpet.  It can be applied to cracks, crevices, baseboards or wall voids. If you can give us more information about the pest you need to treat, we may be able to recommend a product that is more suited to your needs.

    Q
Should I use the bulb or hand duster for a void for Yellow Jackets?
I have a yellow jacket nest in my walls coming through a void by my gas pipe. I purchased the yellow jacket kit that suggested the use of the bulb, but upon reading reviews, I'm wondering if I should have purchased the hand duster instead. What's the pro and cons of each?
    A

Basically, the biggest con to the Bulb duster is that you would be closer to the nest and stinging insects, than if you used a hand duster like the Long Shot Puffer duster. The dust works great when applied by either. Be sure to apply in the cooler times of the day when the Yellow Jackets are less active.

    Q
What should I do if I think I may have accidentally gotten Tempo 1% Dust in my mouth?
My exterminator came. He placed a bottle of Tempo dust on my counter near my makeup products. When I later used a makeup pad I noticed a sweet taste on my lips. And I washed it off. I couldn't think of what the taste could have been until I remembered this bottle. Could it be that ? And what should I be concerned about?
    A

It would be unlikely there was Tempo Dust on your personal items unless whomever was using the product in the area was extremely careless. You can view any safety precautions and first aid measures on the product SDS label.

  • Asked by Amber from Orleans, In

    Q
Will Tempo 1% Dust work against cicada killers?
We have a huge infestation of 50+ in our rural back yard. There are dirt mounds everywhere and they swarm our landscape evergreen trees.
    A

Tempo Dust is great for Cicada Killers or any other flying insect.  In the evening when they are in their burrow you can treat each individual burrow with 2 quick puffs of Tempo Dust using a hand duster.  For overall prevention you can apply Cyper WSP over landscaped areas where they like to nest to deter future burrows from being made.

    Q
Will Tempo 1% Dust kill European hornets?
I have a crack in my porch and have seen several hornets come in and out. Will spaying inside the crack without knowing exactly where the nest is kill them?
    A

Tempo 1% dust is one of the most effective products to treat for hornets. If you are seeing hornets coming in and out through cracks you should apply the Tempo 1% Dust with a duster such as the B&G Bulb Duster 1150 and direct the dust into the cracks where you are seeing the insects enter and exit. Be sure to treat in the times of the day when they are less active (earlier morning or later evening).

  • Asked by Erik from Bel Air, Md

    Q
Should I cut out and replace lightly stained drywall after applying Tempo 1% Dust?
We just had Tempo 1% Dust applied to a yellow jacket nest in our attic. The nest is above our bathroom and we noticed a light stain on the drywall ceiling. After they all die should we cut out and replace the stained portion of the drywall and remove the nest and patch or should we be fine just painting the stain and leaving the nest?
    A

After your treatment of Tempo 1% Dust and once the yellow jackets are dead, we would recommend to remove the nest. It's fine to cut out and replace the stained portion of the drywall but make sure to wear your Personal Protection Equipment (PPE). Not removing the nest may lead to other pest issues in the future.

    Q
What interior prep work should be done before dusting crawl space with Tempo 1%?
Looking to dust our crawl space for brown recluse spiders. Was wondering if there are any precautions or preparation I should take interior before or after, such as closing vents or re-washing dishes, etc.
    A

There will not be a need to prep a crawl space when getting ready to dust with an insecticide dust like Tempo 1% Dust unless there’s items that will need to be removed. You will need to apply about 0.5 lbs to 1.0 lbs Tempo 1% dust for each 1,000 sq. ft. of crawl space. Spreading the dust over the entire crawl space using a hand duster can be a labor intensive job. Most folks choose to use a Dustin Mizer Duster to help cover the area and save their hands from pumping a hand duster multiple times.

  • Asked by John from Avon, Oh

    Q
Is it ok to use Tempo Dust on a ground hornet nest located below a vegetable garden?
The opening to the nest is under wooden planks used to create a raised vegetable garden. The hornets have made a nest somewhere in burrows created by chipmunks throughout the vegetable garden.
    A
Tempo 1% Dust should NOT be applied to any edible vegetation or within five feet of the dripline of the edible garden area. If any get in the raised garden or other garden areas by drift, the vegetables should be discarded.
