    Q
How should you handle Tempo SC Ultra?
My landlord gave me a bottle of tempo sc ultra to treat a bedbug problem in our Apt. My boyfriend has gone crazy with the stuff. Spraying every few day's in hopes of getting rid of the problem. I am worried for our safety breathing it in all the time.
    A
Tempo SC Ultra should not be used any more often than every 7 days for bedbug control. We have linked the Tempo SC Ultra product label in this answer so you and your partner can learn how to use the product properly. Tempo SC Ultra is labeled only to use as a crack and crevice spray around the perimeter of the room. It is not labeled to be used on mattresses, furniture or other items that will be coming in prolonged skin contact. When Tempo SC Ultra is being applied only the applicator should be in the room. Everyone can return to the space after the application has dried and the room has been vented.  Over use of a product can cause insects to become resistant to the chemical you are using so care should be taken to follow the product label instructions.

    Q
Can Tempo SC Ultra be put in a pull behind tank sprayer?
I have a pull behind tank sprayer that I use for liquid fertilizer. Can I mix and use the Tempo in this? Also if i do not use all that I mixed can I leave it in the tank sprayer to use approx. 3 months later ? I didn't know if it looses its effectiveness if it would sit mixed for any length of time?
    A
You can apply Tempo SC Ultra using a pull behind tank sprayer. You should only mix what you can use at one time as you cannot leave Tempo sitting in a diluted solution for more than a day or two.

  • Asked by Mike from Dallas, Texas

    Q
Tempo sc ultra mixed with demand cs
I'm thinking of mixing both products in a sprayer together 8 oz of each into 2 gallons of water. Or maybe spraying one product first then Coming back with the other slightly above each other. Thanks
    A
Synthetic pyrethroids such as Tempo SC and Demand CS are the man-made versions of natural pyrethrin insecticides such as Exciter or Pyganic Pro. There is no valid reason to mix Tempo SC and Demand CS together, it would not make either product work better or produce better results, though it could make treated areas repellent to bedbugs lessening the effectiveness of the treatment. You should choose one product, read the product label and follow it closely.

    Q
Does it controll fire ants in my back yard?
Will it work on fire ants? How much to put on 1 gallon of water for fire ants? How long between aplication to have fire ants free back yard?
    A
Yes, Tempo SC Ultra is labeled for Fire Ant control. You should mix 16 mL per gallon of water. Be sure to spray the mounds directly while broadcasting the spray all over your lawn for complete coverage. Also, you want to spray 2 to 3 feet up the side of the house and 2 to 3 feet out on the ground, along with window frames, door frames, and any other possible entry point. Performing a treatment every moth outdoors and every 3 months indoors will ensure continued protection.

  • Asked by Toni from Marion

    Q
When do I vacuum if I am spraying Tempo SC on concrete floors where pet was kept?
I was told that vacuuming the floor over and over will get rid of the fleas. Persistence is key, but will vacuuming keep the spray from working if I vacuum the floor when it dries?
    A
Tempo SC is not labeled to be applied as a broadcast spray and when dealing with fleas on concrete floors you do not need to treat the entire floor.  Tempo SC is more of a crack and crevice treatment. You should use Tempo SC along baseboards and cracks and crevices, and those are the areas that you would also need to concentrate on vacuuming as well.  You would vacuum before the application and then every day or every other day after application.  Once the product dries it will adhere to the surfaces and vacuuming will not remove it.

  • Asked by Donna from Oceanside, Ca
    06/15/2014
    Q
Does Tempo SC Ultra work on bird lice, or bird mites that are indoors?
We have had sparrows that nest in my hanging baskets right outside our bedroom slider for years. This year I believe that when the babies left, the mites came inside. We almost year round have the slider open at night. I am being eaten alive.
    A
Tempo SC Ultra is not labeled for mites.

It is important to be absolutely sure you are actually dealing with bird mites. Have the suspected bird mite identified by a reputable source, such as your local cooperative extension office or a reputable pest control operator. Treatments will vary for different pests. If you do indeed have bird mites, you must first find the source of the infestation, usually a bird nest or a dead bird on or in the home. Removal of the infested nest or bird and a thorough cleanup is necessary. For treatment in the home, we recommend you frequently vacuum all carpet and upholstery and dispose of the bag or vacuum contents in a sealed bag outdoors. Spray Sterifab on couches, chairs and other upholstered furniture where you may spend time resting. Use MotherEarth Dust in all cracks and crevices around the perimeter of the room. Apply a thin coat of MotherEarth dust to rugs and carpets. Rake (not sweep) nap back and forth, causing dust to enter rug or carpet. Let product sit overnight. Repeat application as necessary and vacuum every 3 - 4 days for effective control. MotherEarth dust does not have a fast knockdown, it can take several days for insects to die after they contact the dust. Onslaught can be used for a faster knockdown. Thoroughly apply as a fine particle broadcast spray using a hand pump sprayer to infested rugs and carpets and other cracks and crevices around the perimeter of each room. Put all clothes through the dryer on high heat to help kill mites and their eggs.We have had many customers use the above recommendations with great success. Most customers report that it can take several months to get rid of all of the mites. Finding and removing the source of the infestation is very important and is the key to getting rid of the mites for good.

  • Asked by Kevin from Idabel, Ok
    09/28/2014
    Q
Should I expect them to be gone instantly?
We have two cats, but they never go outdoors. This last week we suddenly had a house full of fleas. Followed the instructions for Tempo precisely just last night. Not only are they not gone, but they seem almost just as rampant. Shouldn't they be gone by now? Ideas, anyone? Thank you.
    A
Tempo is a great product, but since you cannot apply as a broadcast, we do not necessarily recommend it for fleas. Please review our Flea control page. We recommend using our Indoor Flea Control kit. This kit contains two cans of Alpine Aerosol which is one of the safest professional grade flea sprays for use indoors and was recently classified as a reduced risk product by the EPA. It provides excellent control of fleas and contains an IGR as well, which prevents adult fleas from being able to lay eggs, eventually halting the flea reproductive cycle.  You'll also get two bottles of CimeXa Dust which is a safe, odorless, non-staining dust that is perfect for spreading on carpets, floor coverings, in cabinets, under furniture cushions, and other areas where fleas tend to harbor.  As fleas come into contact with CimeXa, the dust literally dries the fleas out causing eventual death.  These two products together create a powerful double punch providing excellent, safe and lasting indoor flea control.

  • Asked by Dave from Ripon Wi 54071
    11/06/2014
    Q
Is it safe to use Tempo SC Ultra for fleas inside the house? Will it harm anything in the house?
If not how much Tempo SC Ultra per 2 gallons of water?
    A
Tempo SC Ultra should NOT be used for flea control indoors! We would recommend our Indoor Flea Kit as the items in this kit are safe and effective for indoor flea treatments. The Indoor Flea Kit is designed to treat the interiors of homes, apartments, and similar areas with existing flea infestations. The Alpine Flea Insecticide with IGR Aerosol can be used on most floor surfaces and pet bedding, while the CimeXa Dust can be applied to carpets, other floor coverings, and in cracks and crevices where fleas may harbor. Both products are extremely low risk to pets and people and can, therefore, be used in sensitive treatment areas. The Indoor Flea Kit is safe, ready-to-use, and does not require additional application equipment. This kit is designed to treat areas up to 2,000 square feet.
