    Q
What is best herbicide to control weed called nimblewill in mixed lawn of Zoysia & St. Augustine Grass, FL?
We are in mid Florida on East Coast above Daytona Beach and below St Augustine in a city called Palm Coast, Fl.
    A

Tenacity Herbicide is a great option for post emergent control of nimblewill. However it is not safe for use in Zoysiagrass and is only for use on St Augustine when used in sod farm. You could use the Tenacity as a spot treatment only for nimblewill as we would not recommend using it as a broadcast spray on your lawn.

  • Asked by Bill from Minneapolis, Mn

    Q
Does Tenacity Herbicide have any effect on quackgrass?
I know the product is not listed for quack grass, but when I sprayed a patch, while spraying for bent grass, the tips of the leaves turned white. Would additional spraying have any beneficial effect?
    A

Since quackgrass is not on the label to be controlled by the Tenacity, we cannot recommend you use it for this application. We do, however, carry Certainty, which is a selective post-emergent herbicide like Tenacity, that does have Quackgrass listed on the label under weeds controlled. You can see the dilutions and what grasses are tolerant of Certainty on the product label.

    Q
When can I reseed after applying Tenacity?
    A

Tenacity Herbicide should be applied at grass seeding or close to seeding for best results. If you are not close, meaning within a week of application, then you would need to wait 6-8 weeks to re-seed.

  • Asked by Marc from Chesaning, Mi
    06/23/2018
    Q
Can Tenacity be tank mixed with 2-4D?
    A

Per the manufacturer, " Tenacity has been tested in tank mixtures with Barricade 65WG Herbicide (prodiamine), Vanquish® (dicamba), Turflon® ester (triclopyr), Spotlight™ (fluroxypyr), Quicksilver™ (carfentrazone), Basagran® (bentazon), Princep® (simazine), and AAtrex® (atrazine) for safety and efficacy on turfgrasses. Tenacity must be applied at reduced rates (4 fl. oz./A or less) if tank mixed with atrazine, bentazon or simazine. Other tank mixture partners may be safe but have not been tested. Turf managers wanting to tank mix Tenacity with other herbicides should test on a small basis for compatibility, safety and efficacy before treating large areas. See product labels for directions and precautions."

  • Asked by Jacky from Elk Grove, Ca

    Q
Are these the correct Pre-Emergent and Post-Emergent applications with Tenacity Herbicide?
I wanted to confirm if I am correct with the following: Pre-Emergent -- when using as pre-emergent, you spray your entire lawn. Post-Emergent -- When using as post emergent, you will spot spray the weeds. Thank you,
    A

In general, this is correct. Tenacity is typically only used as a pre-emergent when seeding or over-seeding with turf types that are listed as tolerant on the product label. For post-emergent weed control, you should just spot treat to avoid whitening on your desirable turf.

    Q
If I used Tenacity to treat an unseeded area, how long should I wait to seed that area with Bermudagrass seed.
Will using Tenacity to treat weeds in an unseeded area hurt/harm the Bermudagrass seed? Are is there a certian amount of time I need to wait to plant the Bermudagrass seed?
    A

Tenacity Herbicide is only labeled to be applied to dormant bermudagrass, it could harm actively growing bermuda or inhibit seeds from growing.  You need to wait at least 18 months to seed the area after an application

  • Asked by Douglas from Nashville, Tennessee

    Q
Can I overseed Bermuda at some point after using Tenacity?
https://www.domyown.com/tenacity-herbicide-p-1877.htmlDormant. With the fall here now I'm ready however my question regards over-seeding.
    A

Since Tenacity Herbicide can be used only on fully dormant Bermudagrass, there is not a time when you would be overseeding and using Tenacity at the same time. You would overseed with Bermuda when the turf is actively growing in spring or summer, if needed at all. So if you applied Tenacity on dormant Bermuda, then it would be long gone by the time the turf is completely green and any seeding would be fone. If you would like to tell us more about the weeds you are targeting, then we can recommend alternate products for your needs.

  • Asked by Ronnie from Charlotte

    Q
Is Tenacity Herbicide supposed to be a white color like milk?
I wonder if it is out of date. Is it supposed to be clear? Mine looks like milk, and I see no sign of it killing anything after one week.
    A

According to the Safety Data Sheet, before Tenacity Herbicide is diluted, it should have a beige to tan liquid appearance. If the product has been tightly sealed and kept out of sunlight and extreme temperatures, the shelf life is 3-5 years. When using Tenacity, foliage of treated weeds cease growth after application, then turn white (loss of chlorophyll), and death may take up to three weeks. A repeat application is required after two to three weeks for improved postemergence weed control.  A non-ionic surfactant should be added in post-emergence applications. Please review the product label for more information about this product and applications.

    Q
Can I apply Tenacity after using a Weed and Feed(Scotts turf builder halts)?
    A

Yes, you could potentially apply Tenacity Herbicide after using a weed and feed product, but you should wait about 2 weeks between applications so that you do do not put too much stress on the grass at one time.

  • Asked by Claudia from Ness City, Kansas

    Q
I bought Tenacity to kill some small spurge in Buffalograss. What strength should I use in a one gallon spray
It doesn't seem to be killing it. Should I use it stronger or more often? At first I used it 1/2 tsp in 1 gallon with 1/2 tsp surfactant
    A
Tenacity Herbicide does not list spurge as a weed that it controls on the product label so that would be why it is not working for this weed.  You would have better success using a product that specifically lists spurge on the label such as the Speedzone Southern.

  • Asked by Jeff from Menomonie, Wi
    05/01/2017
    Q
When is it too late to apply Tenacity as a pre-emergent for crabgrass control?
    A

Tenacity Herbicide can be applied any time before the weeds start to germinate. Weeds absorb Tenacity as they emerge from the soil. For the best time to apply pre-emergents in your county we recommend contacting your local cooperative extension office here. Crabgrass seeds will start to germinate when soil temperature are around 55 degrees, so you need to apply it before you have those temperatures for best results.

  • Asked by Pete from Wexford, Pa
    08/28/2017
    Q
Will Tenacity rid my lawn of bentgrass, or should I use Roundup QuikPro?
I used tenacity last Fall, but the creeping bentgrass is still there. After the third application (each application put down 2 weeks apart) I raked the 'brownish' bentrgrass and re-seeded (seed: Penn State mix) the areas where I applied Tenacity; but it didn't work since the bentgrass is still there. Maybe I should have not raked and just scratched the soil with a garden weasel and re-seeded? Maybe the raking didn't allow the Tenacity to stay in the bentgrass' root system?
    A

Tenacity Herbicide is our most popular product for eliminating bentgrass from other desirable turfgrasses, but it does typically require multiple applications. Late summer/Fall applications will be more effective than Spring applications. If you are able to spot treat with RoundUp QuikPro, that is another option. It would still be ideal to wait at least 10-14 days after applying the Roundup QuikPro before raking out the dead plants and re-seeding those areas.

  • Asked by Scott from Fairmont, Wv

    Q
Can I put down lime between Tenacity treatments?
I have applied 1 application of Tenacity 1 week ago and plan on waiting another week or two before applying another application. Am I able to put down lime in the yard between treatments or will this effect the ability of Tenacity to work?
    A

You can reapply Tenacity Herbicide after 2-3 weeks for post emergence control of actively growing weeds for best results. There should not be an issue applying lime after the application. We would encourage you to get a soil test to determine the pH level of the soil you are treating also. This can be done at your local cooperative extension
