    Is Tenacity safe to use on lawns that toddlers and pet play on?
    And if so, how long should they stay off the lawn?

    Tenacity Herbicide is safe to use in a yard where pets and children will frequent as long as they are out of the area during the application. They can safely return after the area has dried, typically at least 4-6 hours after application.

    When I am finished using Tenacity Herbicide, how do I dispose of it?
    Curious if I dump this down the drain, on the lawn, in a storm drain, or if it needs to go to the dump. I live close to a creek which dumps into a river.

    We do always recommend that only mix the amount of Tenacity Herbicide you can use at a time.  To dispose of any remaining you would not pour down any drain, but can use to go over some of the areas you were treating or you can pour into the dirt right next to the foundation of the home to prevent any run off to the nearby creek.

    Dates for pre emergent application of Tenacity?
    When is it best begin pre emergence application of Tenacity, I plan on 3 applications app 2-3 weeks apart. Is it best to wait for temperature or apply on a specific date. I live on Cape Cod in Eastern Massachusetts

    Pre-Emergents typically should be applied in the spring before ground temperatures reach 55 degrees and again in late summer/early fall. For more specific recommendations based on the current climate of your region we would recommend contacting your loacal Master Gardener.     Can I spray Tenacity at time of seeding?
    When using Tenacity at time of seeding do I first spray the soil then seed or do I seed then treat the area? The exact steps I assume I would take would be: scratch-up the dirt as to loosen so the seed works into the soil, treat the now loosened soil with Tenacity, last step spread the seed. Guessing you don’t want to spray the seed with Tenacity. This should then greatly reduce the weeds in the treated are for about 4 weeks.

    Tenacity is an effective herbicide for weed control prior to or during seeding of certain turfgrasses during turf renovation. Please see section on use in New Seedings in the Product Label for complete instructions and limitations for your specific turf type.

    Is Tenacity Herbicide a good choice crab grass control in Centipede grass?
    I live near Orlando, FL and have centipede grass. What is a good product that I can use for general weed control? I have several areas with weeds, but not all over the entire yard. I'd like something I can put in a pump sprayer. I know one of the weeds I have is crabgrass, but not sure what the other ones are.

    Tenacity Herbicide? would be a great option for you to control crabgrass, along with many other common weeds, without harming your Centipede lawn.  Tenacity needs to be tank mixed with a non ionic surfactant? or the best results and stick to the leaf surface of the weeds, and its advised to use a dye like Turf Mark Blue? with it so you can make sure to not overlap if you plan to do a broadcast application on the property. According to the Tenacity product label you will need to mix 1/2 tsp of product + 1 1/2 tsp surfactant with 1 gallon of water for spot treatments. After spraying with Tenacity Herbicide, the foliage of treated weeds cease growth after application, then turn white (loss of chlorophyll), and death may take up to three weeks. A repeat application is required after two to three weeks for improved postemergence weed control.

    I have applied Tenacity 14 days ago for nimbleweed. The areas are white now.
    Can I put seed down in the areas where the nimblewill is dying now? Do I need to remove it first?

    Per the label of Tenacity Herbicide, the lawn can be reseeded at any time unless the grass type is fine fescue. You will not need to remove the dead weeds from the area first.

    Mowing before applying Tenacity Herbicide is not required but if you are going to do so be sure to mow 2 days before applying or wait 2 days after.

    Will Tenacity kill creeping charlie?
    A
    Tenacity is labeled to control Ground Ivy "Creeping Charlie" as post emergent control. We highly recommend using a temporary turf colorant like Turf Mark Blue so that you can see where you spray with the Tenacity to avoid overlapping. Tenacity is a great product, but also a very strong product so too much overlapping or mixing the product too strong can cause temporary damage and whitening to your turf around the ground ivy. The color will come back in the lawn after 3-4 weeks but to avoid this potential problem it is best to use a colorant to make sure no overlap occurs. To get optimum results for post emergent control it is recommended you use a Non Ionic Surfactant in your mixture as well. Please make sure that you check the label to verify that it is safe for your type of turfgrass as you did not indicate the kind of lawn you will be applying the product to.     How much Tenacity do I mix in a 1 gal. sprayer?
    A

    According to the Tenacity product label for smaller applications, you will need to mix 1 tsp of Tenacity and 3 tsp of surfactant to 2 gallon of water, using 1 gallon each to cover 1,000 sq ft. Be sure to check the product label to ensure proper rates for your turf type and target weeds are being used to get the best results.

    Should I spray Tenacity on Bentgrass before dethatching or after?
    My 2,700 sq./ft. backyard is 30% Bentgrass and 70% healthy and thick tall fescue. I want to kill as much Bentgrass as possible and overseed my lawn this fall. The Bentgrass patches I can't even see the soil for the amount of thatch. Should I spray Tenacity @ 3 apps, dethatch, then over seed? Or should I dethatch, spray @ 3 apps, over seed?

    In general, we would recommend killing the undesirable plants and clearing out the dead plant debris before dethatching and then reseeding the lawn. Dethatching will be easier and you will get better germination with your new seed when the ground is better prepared for it.     Is the application rate for a blanket spraying over entire yard the same as spot spraying with Tenacity?

    According to the Tenacity product label you will need to mix 1 tsp of product + 3 tsp surfactant with 2 gallons of water for spot treatments. You will not apply more than 5-8 ounces of Tenacity per acre as a broadcast application.     How can I kill crabgrass in Centipedegrass?
    I have centipede grass in Eastern NC and a real problem with crabgrass. I've tried atrazine but have had no luck. Trying to stay away from quinclorac as everything I read says not to use in centipede lawns. Is there anything I cant get that will kill it- post emergent. Once we get to dormancy this winter (January) I plan on putting down prodiamine to hopefully combat it from a pre emergent stance.

    As you probably know, Centipedegrass is a very sensitive species of turf so many products that eliminate the crabgrass and other weeds can also cause damage to your lawn. Tenacity is a great pre- and post-emergent herbicide that will control crabgrass along with many other types of weeds without harming your centipede lawn. Make sure to read the Tenacity label very carefully and mix exactly what is recommended as this is a strong product and mis-using it can cause temporary turf injury. When applying Tenacity it is highly recommended to use a temporary turf colorant like Turf Mark Blue to allow you to see where you are spraying. Overlapping your application of Tenacity can cause temporary whitening of the lawn as well, but the color will return in 3-4 weeks at most. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    When can I apply Tenacity after seeding?

    You should wait until the newly germinated turf has been mowed two times, or four weeks after emergence (whichever is longer) before making a postemergence application with Tenacity if it was not applied at the time of seeding.

    Is Tenacity Herbicide Safe on Spruce Trees?
    Can I spray this product as both an herbicide and pre emergent in and around blue spruce ornamental trees (weeds emerging through bottom branches)? If yes, what is a safe application rate?

    Tenacity Herbicide  could pose a discoloration if it gets on the bark. You want to try and make the application on a day that is not very windy. According to the Tenacity product label you will need to mix 1/2 tsp of product + 1 1/2 tsp surfactant with 1 gallon of water. Tenacity will also act as a pre emergent for listed weeds.
