    Q
Can Tenacity be applied in the morning with dew still on the lawn?
    A

Yes, Tenacity Herbicide can be applied with morning dew on the lawn. Morning dew will not lessen the effects of Tenacity. In some circumstances, a more moist soil will make for better root uptake. You are safe to make the Tenacity application in the cooler times of the day when temps are below 85 degrees.

  • Asked by Henry from Schenectady, New York
    10/12/2018
    Q
Can Tenacity Herbicide be applied with a hose-end sprayer?
    A

It is not recommended to use a hose-end sprayer to treat your lawn with Tenacity Herbicide or any other herbicide. The problem with using hose-end sprayers is that they are not very accurate and you can wind up dispensing more or less product than recommended per area and that can lead to less than desirable results.

  • Asked by Rebecca from Long Island Ny

    Q
Should Tenacity Herbicide be applied before or after overseeding?
And if after how long should I wait after overseeding?
    A

Tenacity Herbicide can be used at the time of seeding for most grass types. Fine fescue is the only grass seed that should not be used at the time of application. It is recommended that you wait 2-4 weeks after an application of Tenacity Herbicide to reseed with fine fescue.

  • Asked by Allen
    11/30/2018
    Q
Can Tenacity be applied to Kentucky Bluegrass to control invasive fescue?
I had some bugs and or mold kill small patches of the lawn. Fescue grew in and filled those bare spots. Will tenacity kill the invasive fescue? Can Tenacity be applied in the winter or fall as a pre-emergent?
    A

Tenacity Herbicide is labeled for use on Tall Fescue, Kentucky Bluegrass, Centipedegrass, Buffalograss, Perennial Ryegrass, Fine Fescue, St. Augustine Grass, so no it will not kill the fescue in your Kentucky Bluegrass lawn.  Tenacity is a systemic pre-emergent and postemergent herbicide for the selective contact and residual control of weeds in turfgrasses. When applied as a pre-emergent, Tenacity Herbicide should be applied before soil temperatures reach 55 degrees.

You can spot treat the fescue with a non-selective herbicide such as Killzall and reseed with bluegrass.

    Q
Can I plant a Fescue mix seed after application of Tenacity Herbicide?
    A

There is no wait time after applying Tenacity Herbicide to re-seed unless you are re-seeding with fine fescue. For fine fescue, it is recommended that you wait at least 30 days after application to re-seed. Be sure that your mix does not contain seed that will not be tolerable.

  • Asked by Rivk from Augusta County, Va
    03/12/2019
    Q
Can I use Tenacity as a preemergent on crabgrass and nimblewill?
    A

Tenacity is labeled as a pre and post emergent for crabgrass but only as a post emergent for nimblewill. The most effective product to control nimblewill pre-emergently has been removed from the market (MSMA). We have had a lot of folks report that Dimension does a pretty good job pre-emergently but since the product is not technically labeled for nimblewill we cannot legally recommend it for this use.

Spring is not here yet, but temperature are high in 50's and low in the 30's. Some days are in the 60's.
    A

Tenacity Herbicide should be used when the temperatures are consistently above freezing on a daily basis. Your target temperature range will depend on whether you are using Tenacity for pre-emergent or post-emergent applications. This is typically between 65-85 degrees.   Please consult the product label for complete application instructions.

  • Asked by Jeffrey from Germantown, Wi
    03/23/2019
    Q
Can I mix Tenacity and Prodiamine 65WDG together for an early spring app.?
Does Prodiamine dilute enough to not clog tank sprayer?
    A

Tenacity has been tested in tank mixtures with Barricade 65WG Herbicide (prodiamine) so yes, it would be okay to use.  You would use the labeled rates for the Prodiamine, which when mixed correctly should not clog a tank sprayer.

    Q
What application rates should be used when combining Tenacity with Barricade pre-emergent weed control?

  • Asked by Valerie from Fort Collins, Co
    03/28/2019
    Q
Will Tenacity kill unwanted grasses in Kentucky bluegrass turf lawn?
Local extension office recommends Tenacity to kill off patches of fine fescue in a Kentucky bluegrass if applied at the rate for Kentucky bluegrass. What would that rate be and do you think this method will work well?
    A

Tenacity Herbicide is labeled to be safely applied to fine fescue and is not labeled to kill it so we cannot recommend it for that use.  When you are trying to remove another cool season turf type from KGB the best option is to use a product like Roundup Quikpro (or non selective/glyphosate) and then re-seed with your KBG.
