    Q
    Tenacity then soil?
If I apply Tenacity do I need to wait a certain amount of time before I bringing some topsoil to level out my lawn and add organic matter to the soil?
    A

If applying Tenacity Herbicide as a pre-emergent you would want to apply after applying any top soil to other matter to the top of the soil to prevent weeds growing in the new soil

  • Asked by Dan from Harleysville, Pa
    04/10/2021
    Q
How long does Tenacity Herbicide remain in soil, and when is it safe to plant vegetables in a previously treated area?
I do not currently have a garden in my yard but would like to start one in the future. In the meantime, I would like to use Tenacity to control several weeds that have invaded my entire lawn. I'm wondering how long I would need to wait after application of Tenacity, both as a pre- and post-emergent, before it is safe to start growing vegetables in an area that has been previously sprayed with Tenacity.
    A

You will need to wait one year after Tenacity is used in a given area before you can plant edible vegetation in that area.

  • Asked by Neville

    Q
Application of Tenacity Herbicide after pre germinated grass seed.
If I pre germinate my rye grass seed & plant them when roots are just starting to form, can I apply Tenacity at the same time or would I need to apply Tenacity before I plant them?
    A

Tenacity Herbicide is best applied 2 weeks before planting/seeding a lawn or wait at least 2-3 weeks after seeding to apply.  When pre-germinating and planting in the area we would recommend waiting at least 4 weeks to apply so it is established.

    Q
I have what a landscape person called Rough Stalk Bluegrass, a Canadian Hybrid or Poa Trivilais.
There are patches in my yard that have a bright greenish color. It really stands out. Will Tenacity take care of this.
    A
Tenacity Herbicide is labeled to take care of this. Be sure to mix a surfactant like Non Ionic surfactant to help promote the product to stick.

  • Asked by Jeffrey from Trumbull
    05/10/2015
    Q
Will Tenacity damage Poa trivialis lawngrass?
I have Poa Triv in shady areas and need to get rid of invasive creeping bent in my lawn.
    A
The product label for Tenacity does not specify whether it would harm poa trivialis. Both bentgrass and poa annua may be sensitive to Tenacity, while Kentucky Bluegrass is listed as tolerant. Certainty Herbicide is labeled to control poa trivialis, but we are not certain if it would harm the bentgrass. The best option for you is to spot treat the rough bluegrass with RoundUp QuickPro and then reseed with the desirable turfgrass.

  • Asked by Rod from La Habra Ca
    10/30/2016
    Q
If I only used 1 tsp of Tenacity Herbicide per gallon of water and not in 2 gallons of water, should I repeat application or go ahead and reseed the area?
I purchased a bottle of tenacity from you a few months back. I recently treated areas of tall fescue that have turned ghost white (whitening was expected) a week + later I realized I messed up and mixed only 1 gallon per tsp/1000 sq feet + nis . The label calls for 2 gallons of water per tsp. Please let me know if you have any feedback of whether I should wait it out or prepare to reseed the affected areas? Thanks
    A

Since Tenacity is an effective herbicide for weed control prior to or during seeding of certain turfgrasses during turf renovation and the water is only acting as the carrier for the solution to get into the weeds, you should be ok to reseed if you are happy with the results. For post emergent applications, you will need to wait for the turf to be established after 2 mowings to reapply.

  • Asked by Paul from Deer Park, Ny
    04/24/2017
    Q
I applied Tenacity 3 weeks ago. Can I now apply Weed-Be-Gone?
Some spots need more herbicide: Clover, Dallisgrass. Do the different herbicides react badly together?
    A

We see no reason why you cannot apply Weed Be Gone now.  It has been 3 weeks after Tenacity Herbicide, which is plenty of time. Please take a look at the Tenacity product label to be sure that it is safe to apply to your particular grass species.

  • Asked by Mike from Harleysville, Pa
    05/07/2017
    Q
How many ounces of Tenacity Herbicide should I put in a 26 gallon boom sprayer?
How many ounces of tenacity and surfactant are needed in a 26 gallon boom sprayer for general lawn/grass weed maintenance? Ive read for tenacity, 1 teaspoon per 2 gallons of water but also 4-8 oz per acre in at least 30 gallons of water. How much surfactant should be included?
    A

When using Tenacity Herbicide, the amount of water is not what is important; the right amount of product is. The rate for 1000 square feet is 1 teaspoon. The will mix in 1-2 gallons of water. Please let me know how much area you are treating to give you the best rate.

The rate of the surfactant is 1-2 teaspoons per gallon of water. For 26 gallons of water, the rate of surfactant is 26-52 fl oz.

  • Asked by Domenic from North Royalton, Oh
    06/27/2017
    Q
What is the ratio of Tenacity for established Kentucky blue and ryegrass lawn?
I have a well established lawn comprised of mostly ryegrass and Kentucky blue that is slowly succumbing to spreading bent grass. I am struggling to confirm ratio of Tenactiy to surfactant to water for proper post emergent application. Can you please provide a ratio based on tank mixing 30 gallons at a time?
    A

The amount of Tenacity Herbicide that is used is based on the amount of area you are treating. With herbicides, the amount of water is not as important as the amount of water that is being used. The rate we would recommend using is 5 fl oz to cover an acre. This can be mixed in 25-30 gallons of water to cover an acre.

  • Asked by Annette
    07/03/2017
    Q
What can you put in the mixture of Tenacity Herbicide to turn the plant color until it dies?
    A

We are not aware of anything that can be added to Tenacity Herbicide to cause the plant color to change as it dies and it already causes a color change itself.  Per the product label: Foliage of treated weeds cease growth after application, then turn white (loss of chlorophyll) and death may take up to three weeks. A repeat application is required after two to three weeks for improved postemergence weed control. A non-ionic surfactant should be added in postemergence applications

  • Asked by Jess from Greenwood, In
    09/26/2017
    Q
Do I need to wait for the last application to reseed after using Tenacity Herbicide?
I am applying my first round of tenacity and plan on reseeding. I anticipate I will need a re-application in 2-3wks per bottle instructions. Do I need to wait until my finial application to reseed as the label says to wait two mows or 4wks before applying to newly germinated seeds?
    A

Per the label of Tenacity Herbicide, this product can be applied at the same time of seed, except fine fescue. It is recommended that you mow at least two days before and/or two days after.

  • Asked by Sue from Lakeway, Texas
    03/01/2018
    Q
Can Tenacity be used on turf before being treated with beneficial nematodes?
I have a buffalograss and blue grama mix of turf in central Texas and have grassy annual weeds. I am using Tenacity before and at seeding in areas destroyed by digging animals last year.
    A

There are no restrictions on the label for Tenacity Herbicide regarding timing around application of beneficial nematodes. Unfortuunately, not too much is known about the possible effects of using herbicides when applying beneficial insects. We would not recommend mixing or applying Tenacity immediately after appying the nematodes. We recommend contacting the manufacturer of the nematodes you are using for their recommendation on how long to wait between these applications and which is best done first.

    Q
I recently applied Grubex and fertilizer. How long do I need to wait before I can apply Tenacity?
How long do I need to wait to apply the Tenacity? Also, would you recommend a spot treatment of Tenacity or can I do the whole lawn. any particular oz/acre recommended? I over-seeded/repaired some lawn about 4 weeks ago. Thank you!
    A

There are no time restrictions when applying Tenacity Herbicide along with insecticides or fertilizers.  You can either spot treat or broadcast depending on how much of the target weed you are dealing with.

  • Asked by David from Kalamazoo
    07/14/2018
    Q
Due to excess heat and draught my bent grass is dormant (brown). Can I use Tenacity now or should I wait.
    A

Tenacity Herbicide is labeled to control bentgrass but it does need to be applied when it is actively growing and healthy.  Per the product label: Apply Tenacity at 5 fl. oz. per acre in at least 30 gallons of water per acre at two to three week interval for up to three applications. Apply with a NIS surfactant. Bentgrass control may be more effective in the late summer/early fall just prior to onset of renewed bentgrass growth, than spring/early summer applications

  • Asked by Mark from Shelbyville, Ky
    08/11/2018
    Q
What do you recommend to combat the wild violet and nimblewill taking over my yard?
The desired grasses in the yard are bluegrass and fescue. Will I get effective control applying at this time of the growing season? Recognizing they are very different weeds, can the recommended products be mixed into one application? Or, should they be separate applications and, if so, how far apart?
    A

Tenacity Herbicide can be used for both nimblewill and wild violet.  To control nimblewill, you should start applying Tenacity Herbicide in the spring (late-April). You may need to make two or three applications to get complete control.  You can also apply Tenacity in late summer and fall, but you should initiate treatments by August for best results. For other weeds such as wild violet apply to young, actively growing weeds.
