    Q
Are nimbleweed seeds viable when bleached by Tenacity?
Some nimbleweed I treated a month or so ago is bleached white but is still going to seed. Most of the seed shoots are bleached along with the seeds instead of the usually tan color. Are these bleached seeds viable? Not sure if I should let the plant die or pull it.
    A

No, the bleached seeds that were treated with Tenacity are no longer viable. It may require more than one application for this.

  • Asked by Chau from Derry, Nh
    09/13/2016
    Q
Should I use a surfactant when applying Tenacity Herbicide to a newly seeded lawn?
Trying to restore my lawn and aerate/seed this past Saturday 9/3/2016. Waiting for my order of Tenacity and Surfactant to arrive sometimes this week. Should I use both products and apply to the new lawn even though it's a week after seeding? Also should I use surfactant with it for pre-emergence or is that only for post? Thanks in advance!
    A

It is safe to apply Tenacity Herbicide at or near seeding for most types of turfgrass for pre-emergent control. You should avoid spraying Tenacity on newly germinated turfgrass plants. Please refer to the product label for complete application instructions. You would only need to use a surfactant when applying Tenacity for post-emergent weed control.

    Q
Will Tenacity kill the crabgrass already established in my yard?
I planted grass seen to a newly estalblished yard this past march. The summer heat killed most of grass and now i mainly have crabgrass everywhere. Im wanting to seed in the next 4-8 days. Can i spray tenacity now in order to kill the weeds that are already present?
    A

Yes, Tenacity Herbicide is both a pre and post emergent. So it can be sprayed now to kill the current crabgrass that you have as long as it is still actively growing. Please be sure to use the product label for the correct usage rates for your application.

  • Asked by Rodolfo from Yakima, Wa
    09/15/2016
    Q
How do I apply Tenacity only to a couple of small Patches of bent grass on my lawn?
How do I apply a small amount. What is the mixture ratio of water and tenacity to cover this small area - both patches are maybe 8 feet square?
    A

According to the Tenacity product label you will need to mix 1 tsp of product + 3 tsp surfactant with 2 gallons of water for spot treatments applied at a rate of 1 gallon per 1,000 sq ft. If you can acurrately measure a smaller amount it could be halved to do 500 sq ft but anything smaller would not be recommended.

  • Asked by Joshua from Canton, Oh
    09/27/2016
    Q
Can aerate after using Tenacity Herbicide?
I'm trying to build a schedule but I have a hard time planning it out. I plan to core aerate my yard now and then after winter and again in the fall and overseed. Does it matter when I aerate after applying this stuff or do I need to wait until all the weed grasses are gone? I assume that the weeds being covered by this will still die even if they end up buried under the cores.
    A

SInce you can use Tenacity Herbicide either prior to or during seeding of certain turfgrasses you could either aerate before or after using the product and it would still work. There is nothing on the product label stating that there is a certain time to do aerating.

  • Asked by Bill from Palm Coast, Fl

    Q
What is best herbicide to control weed called nimblewill in mixed lawn of Zoysia & St. Augustine Grass, FL?
We are in mid Florida on East Coast above Daytona Beach and below St Augustine in a city called Palm Coast, Fl.
    A

Tenacity Herbicide is a great option for post emergent control of nimblewill. However it is not safe for use in Zoysiagrass and is only for use on St Augustine when used in sod farm. You could use the Tenacity as a spot treatment only for nimblewill as we would not recommend using it as a broadcast spray on your lawn.

    Will Tenacity Herbicide control bahiagrass?
    A

Tenacity Herbicide is not labeled for bahiagrass. However, you could use a product like ProSedge Herbicide. It is labeled for bahiagrass and is safe for use on various types of lawns, including St. Augustine, as long as it is not Floratam.

  • Asked by Sylvia from Nashville, Tn

    Q
How long after Tenacity application can I seed with an annual rye?
I see instruction for perennial rye but not annual. I have decided to switch to Bermuda next year so a temporary rye lawn would be best for me this winter but I've already treated with Tenacity twice. How long until I can seed annual Rye? Or not at all?
    A

When using Tenacity Herbicide there should be no issue with planting annual rye seed after using it. Per the product label you would want to apply either at seeding or close to it for the best performance.

  • Asked by Al from Waterford, Michigan
    10/19/2016
    Q
How soon can I reseed after applying Tenacity Herbicide to kill bentgrass?
I applied 3 applications in two-week intervals. The lawn was 80% bentgrass. Is it getting too late in fall to seed?
    A

Per the product label on Tenacity Herbicide, apply at grass seeding or close to seeding for best preformance. If you are not close, meaning within a week of application, then you would need to wait 6-8 weeks to re-seed, As for your questions is it too late ot re-seed, we recommend you contact a master gardener in your area or your Local Extention Office to get more information on that.

  • Asked by James from Indian Trail, Nc
    10/26/2016
    Q
Can I now do my second round of Tenacity Herbicide on new grass?
I got one round of tenacity on my lawn then i aerated & reseeded 3 weeks ago. I fixed some large bare spots as well. I have new grass growing, but I see more weeds and clover and Crabgrass coming back. Can I now do my second round of Tenacity on this new grass. I'm starting the win the battle looks like, but Crabgrass is still hanging in there on about 30 % of total lawn.
    A

If you have already seeded, then you do not want to apply Tenacity Herbicide to the newly seeded turf until is has been mowed two times or four weeks after emergence (whichever is longer) before making a postemergence application.

  • Asked by Rod from La Habra Ca
    10/30/2016
    Q
If I only used 1 tsp of Tenacity Herbicide per gallon of water and not in 2 gallons of water, should I repeat application or go ahead and reseed the area?
I purchased a bottle of tenacity from you a few months back. I recently treated areas of tall fescue that have turned ghost white (whitening was expected) a week + later I realized I messed up and mixed only 1 gallon per tsp/1000 sq feet + nis . The label calls for 2 gallons of water per tsp. Please let me know if you have any feedback of whether I should wait it out or prepare to reseed the affected areas? Thanks
    A

Since Tenacity is an effective herbicide for weed control prior to or during seeding of certain turfgrasses during turf renovation and the water is only acting as the carrier for the solution to get into the weeds, you should be ok to reseed if you are happy with the results. For post emergent applications, you will need to wait for the turf to be established after 2 mowings to reapply.

    10/31/2016
    Q
How long should I wait until I can put a winterizer on my lawn after an application of Tenacity Herbicide?
    A

There is no specific time that you need to wait after using an herbicide like Tenacity before you can apply a fertilizer. As long as the turf is healthy and you are following the directions on the product labels for what you are applying, then you should not come across any problems. Please see our Lawn Care Schedule for additional tips.
