    Q
What is best product to get rid of subterranean termites?
    A
Termidor SC is the top termite product on the market for treatment and prevention.. Termidor SC is completely undetectable by subterranean termites and once termites touch it they contact, ingest and spread the termiticide until it eliminates the entire colony and it will last for about 10 years in the soil.  You should perform a liquid termite treatment in the ground to get the termites where they are entering your house and for furture prevention.

I had a friend of mine use Termidor SC in my trench but he did not use enough water. Will this ruin product?
    A
Termidor SC should be diluted with water and applied in a trench according to the product mixing instructions on the product label. It is mixed at 3.2 fl oz per 4 gallons of water per 10 lineal feet of trenching (6"x6" trench directly up against the foundation).

    Q
Found some termite activity on some scrap wood in my crawl space?
Hi, I just finished one project with your help and products and now I have a new project. I'm looking at a rental property. I have done a very detailed inspection and can find no termite activity to the structure.....both in the home and under the home look great. When I lifted the plastic moisture barrier in the crawl space, I found some termite activity on some scrap pieces of wood lying on the dirt under the plastic sheeting. I don't see any dead bodies, wings, or alive termites......just this damage to a couple scraps left by the builders (home is 13 years old). How would I approach this project? I plan to order some more Termidor and treat the soil around the home and treat the soil around the pillers in the crawl space, just as an insurance policy...anything else at this point?
    A
You actually sound like you are already on the right track on knowing what to do.  You would apply in a trench with Termidor SC around the outside of the home  and around the pillars in the crawl space. Also inspect the home to ensure there is not an active infestation.  If an active infestation is located it would also be recommended to do the trench along the inside wall of the crawl space.

    Q
Can you use Termidor SC inside your house for flea control?
    A

Termidor SC cannot be applied indoors or for flea control. We do carry an Indoor Flea Kit that will be great for this application. You will vacuum daily (discarding the bag or emptying the canister after each use) and spray once every two weeks. It is highly recommended to make a minimum of two applications indoors but may require additional applications depending on the level of fleas.

I have very tiny ants popping up now and then in kitchen and bath maybe other places.
    A
We would recommend applying Termidor SC (1 ft up and 1 ft out) directly to the exterior of the home twice a year. Phantom would be a great choice for the indoor cracks and crevices. It will last inside for three months with the liquid formulation and one month for the aerosol.

    Q
I am seeking carpenter ant control. I was told Termidor 1 foot out; 1 foot up.
Because I have pets, I am reluctant to go one foot out/one foot up. I used to use Ficam W, which seemed to work with just a tiny band sprayed around the foundation.
    A
Termidor SC is safe for pets if applied when they are not in the area. They can return once the treated surfaces are completely dry.

  • Asked by Dennis from Saugus Ma

    Q
How long does Termidor SC take to kill the colony?
I have carpenter ants coming and going into my house from the yard. And dust, traps and bait crystals don't seem to be working. The only thing that kills on contact is the sprays. I don't want to kill the workers if they are the ones bringing the poison into the nest. But I need to get into the nest to do the killing.
    A
The amount of time it will take Termidor SC to eliminate a colony of ants will depend on how large the colony is the begin with. It could take weeks. Termidor SC is a non-repellent insecticide that works with a delayed reaction amd also has a transfer effect. That means that ants cannot tell that the Termidor SC is there and will walk right over it and then pick the product up on their bodies and inadvertently carry it back to the colony, then through normal social interaction the ants spread the Termidor and wipe out the colony.

HELP... Will Spraying Termidor SC Directly on Active Drywall Termites Work
I purchased your Termidor SC in order to trench around outdoor slab, BUT I have since discovered that I have active drywood termites already in a wall Within 1 week I noticed they ate through a 6'x8' section of an interior solid 1" thick mahogany like wood!. I also found the exterior wall seam that they entered in from. There were no tunnels from the ground, only a big tunnel in this exterior wall gap. Based on the new kick-out pellets I have seen each day for the past several days, I expect to see LIVE ACTIVE termites when I remove this interior wall. I would like to spray all of these ACTIVE termites directly as I see them, any nests, and also drill studs and inject more Termidor SC in damaged studs. AFTERWARDS, I would like to take down this TEMPORARY plywood that has been covering my wall void and replace ALL damaged wood at that time. MY QUESTION IS, How long do you think I should wait before taking down my temporary plywood wall and replacing damaged studs? I want it to be enough time for the active termites that I sprayed to have carried the Termidor SC to the other termites. Do you think a week would be long enough? Finally, I would replace the damaged studs with pressure treated wood, AND also spray on some of your BoraCare to adjacent areas of wood that was not damaged. Do you think my plan of attack is good? Please let me know ASAP I am not sure if a couple of days mater or not at this point. Anything else I should consider doing? Thanks!
    A
First you want to open this area up and go ahead and treat with Termidor. Wait three months for the product to eradicate the colony and then replace the dry wall and wood. We also recommend to trench around the outside perimeter of your home to. Treating now, will help lower the chances that the termites will move to another area.

    Q
If I apply Termidor SC around the foundation, is there anything to spray between the sheetrock and the exterior walls? Should I have to?
    A
If you do not currently have termite activity, then you only have to treat the outside perimeter of your home.  If your home is on a crawl space foundation, there may be a few places that you need to treat under the home.  You do not have to treat in the walls unless there is a specific place that you have termite activity already that you know about.  If so, then you can apply Termidor SC directly to the area as a spot treatment inside in addtion to all of the perimeter treatment outside.  If you have not read our "How To Do A Termite Treatment" article already, it will completely explain how to do the outside treatment.

    Q
Can I use Termidor SC in sandy soil near a water well?
I have a mobile home with somewhat sandy soil under it. A non drinking well is 15 feet away. How would we self treat for termites that are present.
    A
As long as the well is at least 15 feet away, you can use Termidor SC, which is the most widely used termite control product available by professional companies.  You should read our "How To Do A Termite Treatment" article which will explain to you exactly how you should treat your home for termites.  If you have any further questions, you can always call us at 866-581-7378.

    Q
How long will Termidor last when sprayed outdoors for general pest control?
I plan on applying a 0.06% solution of Termidor to the outer walls of my house and in the crawl space to control ants, spider, etc.
    A
Termidor is only labeled to apply two times a year but may be applied more often if need be.  Typically most insecticides will last up to 3 months at the most depending on climate and weather patterns.

    Q
Is Termidor SC or CyKick CS better for black ants and dry wood termites?
Which product has less of an odor?
    A

Cy-Kick CS is a great product, but Termidor SC is the preferred product for your situation. Termidor SC is a non-repellent insecticide that also has a transfer effect, this means that the ants will not know that Termidor SC has been applied, and therefore cannot avoid the treated area and as they come into contact with other ants they will spread the insecticide and wipe out the colony. Termidor SC can also be used for drywood termites. It is important to remember that you must apply the product into the spaces that these termites will actually come into contact with it. That could mean that you would need to drill into the wood or possibly even foam the product into the space. We have never had a complaint about the smell of Termidor SC and the MSDS says that it is odorless.

    Q
How long does it take for Termidor SC to work on spot treatments in wood?
Is it safe to stay in a boat treated with injected spot treatments into the effected wood? If Termidor SC only lasts to treat the infestation for six weeks, what should the follow up treatment be in a boat and should I remove the effected wood?
    A
Termidor SC does not penetrate through wood, so you cannot just spray it on wood and expect it to penetrate through to the termites.  You have to drill holes and inject the product directly into the wood.  Termidor SC is very safe and there should be no worries about being in the boat near wood that you treated with Termidor SC.  Termidor SC does not last for a long period of time on wood since it is meant to be placed into the ground.  Most of the time it is not worth the time or trouble to drill holes all over the wood and inject Termidor SC all over the boat if there are not termites there.  Most people just wait and do inspections every so often and only treat when they have an issue.

    Q
Will Termidor work when applied on stucco and concrete?
I have a major ant problem. On 3 sides of my home a concrete sidewalk butts up to the homes stucco foundation. Can Termidor SC be applied to stucco and concrete and achieve the same results as when applied to soil? If not, can you recommend a different product? Thanks!
    A
Termidor is the best product available for ant control.  Termidor is made to bond to any surface and will last just as long on concrete and stucco as it does on soil, which is about 3 months when applying it on all surfaces for ant control.

    Q
How to do a preventive treatment of Termidor before pouring a slab?
I am building a garage and the footer and the wall are already up. We have placed 2B crushed stone around the wall of the foundation (the initial trench of the footer was filled with stone instead of soil to help water drainage). So if I spray Termidor on the perimeter it will likely penetrate very fast. Is it OK to spray the entire surface before pouring the slab or I should only focus on the inner perimeter.
    A
When building a structure you should apply Termidor to the entire area under where you are going to pour the slab.  You should apply Termidor at the rate of 1 gallon per 10 square feet.  You should apply slightly more around the perimeter edges and around any plumbing pipes or expansion joints that will be in the slab.

    What is best application??
    A
Termidor SC is not labeled to be used indoors or in wall voids for carpenter ants. You can use it around the outside of your window frames, door frames and any other crack or crevice where the ants could be gaining entry into your home. Termidor SC is the #1 product on the market for carpenter ants. We also carry Carpenter Ant Kit#1 and Carpenter Ant Kit#2.

    Q
How do I know Termidor SC is doing anything ?
As a first time user I just put Termidor SC into an outside wall where I noticed the brown ball like termite crap close to where the wood siding butted up against the concrete. While it foamed etc., it dried up clear in about 30 minutes. Am I supposed to be able to see any residue after the foam has disappeared and how do I know it is doing anything?
    A
Termidor does not leave a residue and so what you saw was normal.  Unfortunately there is no real sign that you will see to know that it is working other than the fact that you will not have any new termite activity.  If you treated correctly and the termites did come into contact with the Termidor SC, then it will work.  You have to trust that Termidor is the best termite control product for a reason.  Since it does not kill the termites right away and it allows them to take the product back under the slab where the rest of the termites are, it takes up to 90 days to kill all of the termites.  So you should not disturb the area or check to see if there is still activity until after 90 days.

    Q
I have severe allergies and fire ants in my kitchen.
What can I use that will kill the ants and not be harmful to me or my food?
    A
Chances are that the ants are coming from outside and getting inside the kitchen.  99% of the time ants are nesting outside and coming inside for food or water. The best treatment for ants outside is Termidor, hands down.  It is sort of a liquid bait when used for ants, and any ants that walk over where you spray pick up the Termidor on their bodies and bring the product back to the colony where they spread it around to all other termites, including the queen, and typically within a few days to a week all of the ants will be dead.  Termidor is used around your home like any other pest control product and is applied using a one gallon hand pump sprayer.  You should re-apply every 3 months for optimum ant control.
