    Q
Does Termidor SC work in sandy soil applications with the trenching method?
The sandy soil in my area Of Florida is hydrophobic and does not absorb water or chemicals. Will one of the two foaming agents that you sell for use with Termidor SC Act as a surfactant or wetting agent? Will either of these two foaming Products disrupt the non repellent nature of the Termidor? Or is there another wetting agent that you would recommend?
    A

Termidor SC has soil binding molecules in it that will allow it to bind to any soil regardless of the density. It is not labeled to be used with a foaming agent in the trenching method.

  • Asked by J.j. from Dallas, Tx
    07/27/2016
    Q
How to apply Termidor SC into void between foundation, and soil?
Is it possible to use a shovel to force the soil away from the foundation by wedging a shovel in between to create a gap, and then pouring the mixed Termidor SC solution into the gap instead of creating a trench? Once soaked in, pressing the soil back against the foundation?
    A

Per manufacturer, the most effective termite treatment would be digging the 6in x 6in trench around the foundation and applying Termidor SC per label. If the gap is close to the suggested trench requirements, we do not see where this would not be as effective.

  • Asked by Danny from Elkin, Nc
    09/10/2016
    Q
How far apart do I drill holes in concrete slab to apply Termidor SC?
    A

The holes should be 2" from the foundation wall and 10-12" apart. You will apply the finished solution at 4 gallons every 10 lineal feet. You will mix 0.8 fl oz of Termidor SC per gallon in a 5 gallon bucket (4 gallons of water and 3.2 fl oz of Termidor SC).

  • Asked by Adam from Olivet, Mi
    01/24/2017
    Q
I have 4 bottles of Termidor SC that froze during the winter in my garage, Can I still use them?
    A

Insecticides should not be exposed to extreme temperatures such as freezing or over heating or left for prolonged periods of time in direct sunlight. In the case of Termidor SC, after it has thawed at room temperature if it goes back into a solution (the way it looked at the time of purchase) it should be fine to use. However, if it appears discolored or if the consistency of the product has changed it should be discarded and replaced.

  • Asked by Thomas from Memphis
    03/23/2017
    Q
Can I use Termidor SC to treat my brick house wood subfloors and crawl space?
I believe the termites are traveling in my tree roots because under my house looks like a lot of termite mounds with a lot of damage. Should I spray inside or outside of the house.
    A

While you can use Termidor SC to treat voids in your subfloor, we would recommend to use Boracare instead because it can be applied to raw wood, be absorbed and last the lifetime of the wood. You can use Termidor SC in your crawl space if there's soil, you can trench around the piers to protect your home.

  • Asked by Madoka
    04/23/2017
    Q
Is it possible to prevent ants from going inside the house by just using Termidor SC outside?
Ants are climbing up the wall from the balcony of the lower floor (not part of our house) and they are coming in our balcony as well as inside our house through the windows. I understand that the Termidor SC kills the colony but I wanted to know if the Termidor SC will prevent the ants from coming inside the house if I spray this outside. Should I be adding other sprays such as, Talster P or Cy Kick inside the house? Will this reduce the ants coming inside the house? Also, I used Ortho Home Defense two weeks ago but will this reduce the effect of the Termidor SC? Thank you.
    A

Termidor SC is what we call a non-repellent, which means the insects - in this case, ants - do not detect the application, plus the active ingredient kills slowly enough that the ants do not die until they've had time to pass along the active ingredient to all the other ants they contact during their regular activities. If you apply Termidor SC as directed, then any ant colonies that contact that barrier will be killed. If you are already seeing trails of ants inside your home, then we would recommend using products like those in our Indoor Ant Kit to insure those colonies are taken care of, as well. Our Ant Treatment Guide has additional tips for treating this nuisance pest.

  • Asked by Doug
    05/24/2017
    Q
Can Termidor SC be used under a home with a raised foundation?
My house has active tubes underneath. Can I break them up and pour the Termidor solution directly onto ground?
    A

When applying Termidor SC to a home with a raised foundation, you would trench around the outside of the foundation and around each pier/post under the crawlspace. Everywhere you dig you will follow the method of digging a 6x6 trench and use 4 gallons to every 10 linear feet. Termidor needs to be trenched in order for it to be effective and cannot just be poured onto the ground.

    Q
Will Termidor bind to sand too?
I live in FL and I found the soil around my house is mostly sand.
    A

Termidor SC can be used in sandy soil.  You would still do the trench and treat the sand 6" x 6" around the foundation as termites will still go through that area to get to your home if looking for food, if this is your target pest.

  • Asked by John from Addison, Tx
    04/26/2018
    Q
Can Termidor for Termites be applied outside when raining?
    A

You should not apply Termidor SC if it is going to rain the same day.  It is best to wait until you have a few days of no rain in the forecast. Termidor SC is made to bond to the soil but it needs time to "set" and bond to hold up against a rain event.

    Q
Can you do a termite trench while it is raining?
    A

If you are applying Termidor SC you want to make sure there is not going to be rain for at least 24 hours after application. If you know it is going to rain within that time frame, you should wait until the rain is passed and will be sunny and dry for a day or two

    Q
Is Termidor safe to use around kids?
    A

We would NOT recommend using Termidor SC when children are around. Once the product is dry, it is safe for your children to return to the area. Termidor SC normally dries within a matter of hours depending on the temperatures outdoors.

  • Asked by Staci from Hemet Ca
    06/29/2018
    Q
I was wondering if I have to dig a trench for a mobile home infested with drywood termites?
The mobile home is on it's own foundation and has a huge crawl space underneath the home. But all around the home is rocks and dirt, hard to dig anything, like a trench. Would like to use Termidor SC. Thanks, Staci David
    A

Drywood termites are all contained in a piece of wood.  They do not go back to the ground like subterranean termites.  For Termidor to work on drywood termites, you have to drill directly into the piece of wood the termites are in and inject Termidor into the wood.  Termidor does not penetrate into wood, so you have to inject it into the center.  It has to touch the termites to work, but the benefit is that it only has to contact a few termites, and then they can pass it on to the rest of the colony.  To treat for subterranean termites using Termidor, you will need to trench all around the skirt just like you would around a home's foundation, and then you will need to trench around all of the blocks that are holding the trailer up, just like you would a home's piers in a crawlspace.

  • Asked by Stacey from Gardena, Ca
    07/14/2018
    Q
No soil around house to use Termidor SC
I live in a back house and it's concrete all around the house with a small area of grass in the back. But even the grass is separated from the house with a tile patio Th at is about 2 feet distance. Does this stuff work only if put in soil? It can't be sprayed maybe up against the house directly? Thanks for any info you can provide.
    A

Termidor SC does need to be applied directly to soil.  If you have concrete up against the foundation around the home you would need to drive every 10-12 inches through it and inject/spray ½ gallon into every hole as outlined in our Prevention guide here

If concrete such as a carport slab or sidewalk is against the foundation in the area where you need to treat, you will be required to drill through the concrete to apply the termiticide solution to the soil. Using the hammer drill with a 1/2" x 18" concrete drill bit, drill holes every 12" into the concrete along the foundation wall.

You are not only drilling through just the concrete here, but also as deep as you can into the dirt. The deeper the better. Once the holes are drilled, you fill at the same rate you did the trench, 4 gallons per 10 feet. If you drilled the holes 12 inches apart, then you would have 10 holes over 10 feet that you are trying to fill with 4 gallons. This works out to be a little less than half a gallon per hole. To fill these I would recommend using the one gallon sprayer on a "pin stream" setting so you can force the liquid down the hole and not splash it everywhere. You can also use a funnel and pour the termiticide down the holes. It is difficult to get 4 gallons per 10 feet in the holes, so it is important that you use a long drill bit, at least 18" long so you can bore out enough dirt to hold the termiticide. Sometimes the ground is slow to soak up the termiticide you place in the holes. You may need to fill the holes, then go work on something else for an hour, come back and fill them again, go work on something else... 3 to 4 times to get the proper amount down the holes. Once the holes are filled all you need to do is patch them with a concrete patch filler you can buy at a home improvement or hardware store or you can use our Trebor plugs that will close the hole with no concrete mess.

  • Asked by Ross from Anaheim, Ca
    08/30/2018
    Q
Is Termidor the best in hose end sprayer insecticide for the lawn and flower beds?
    Specifically for ants.
    A

Termidor SC  should not be applied through a hose end applicator for application to the lawn and flower beds for ant control. It should only be sprayed a couple of times a year directly up against the foundation of the strucutres on the property (1 ft and 1 ft out). We would recommend using Arilon Insecticide.  It can be used around the perimeter of the home and you could expand the band around the perimeter, for example: you can spray 3 feet up on the foundation and 7 feet out. The active can also be transferred from one ant to another and can be used for direct mound treatments if necessary, as well as surfaces commonly used by ants for foraging such as outdoor edges/frames of windows, doors, utility penetrations, roof lines or eaves, and other structural edges may also be treated. In addition to exterior structural elements, outdoor nesting sites such as refuse collection areas, flower/mulch beds, adjacent tree holes, surrounding turf areas, crawl spaces, or other nest/ foraging sites, and foraging trails can be treated.
