    Q
Applying termidor around long tree perimeter
i have termite prob on a living tree how far from their tree base do I need to dig trench for treatment? Could product harm tree?
    A
Termites do not usually infest any living piece of wood or tree as they go after dead and decaying wood matter. Are you sure they are termites or that part of the tree isnt dead? Termidor cannot be used away from the foundation of the home/structure unless you are direct treating a carton nest as defined by the Termidor product label. It is not allowed to be used as a trench treatment or drench on or around a tree out on the property for control of any pest. A better option would be to use a product like Talstar P around the base of the tree if you are concerned there could be termites in that vacinity. Talstar would safe to use on the tree and would eliminate any insects in the soil where you treated and any that pass through the soil as well.

    Q
Can Termidor SC trenching and Advance Termite Bait Stations be used in tandem?
I've been considering trenching around the piers of my house with Termidor SC and also placing Advance bait stations (there are some areas of soil that I strongly suspect have termite activity). The two products have two different poisons - if termites come in contact with both will chemical interaction reduce the effectiveness of either one?
    A

Yes! You can use Advance Bait stations and Termidor combined. The stations will help monitor and the Termidor will be a barrier. Both products will work together not against each other. Please see our article Sentricon vs Termidor for more information about these two types of treatments.

  • Asked by Mike from 1622 Blackgum Lane Ridgeway Sc

    Q
How to get rid of an Argentine ant infestation?
My neighbor just revamped her landscaping, now I have a Argentine ant infestation.
    A

Termidor SC is the # 1 choice for ant control around the outside of your home. Termidor is a non-repellent insecticide that also has a transfer effect. That means that ants cannot tell that the Termidor is there and will walk right over it and then pick the product up on their bodies and inadvertently carry it back to the colony, then through normal social interaction the ants spread the Termidor and wipe out the colony. Termidor only needs to be applied two times per year and is effective for a wide variety of insects including ants, centipedes, roaches, spiders, silverfish, wasps and many other nuisance insects.

    A

Termidor SC should only be applied to the exterior (1ft up and 1 ft out) directly up against the structure only. You will mix 0.8 fl oz per gallon of water and apply once every 6 months. For more information on treating ants, please check out our treatment article.

    Q
How many bottles of Termidor SC would you need for a home that is 2000sq feet?

For the accurate recommendation to apply Termidor in a trench for termites, we recommend to measure the linear feet around the structure. 1 bottle Termidor will treat 60 linear feet of trenching.

  • Asked by Kimberly

    Q
I trenched around the house about 10 years ago and now have spiders.
I have seen spiders in the house and would like to retreat, I really do not want to retrench the house. Is there another way that I can retreat?
    A

Termidor applied in a trench really helps to prevent pest that are traveling through the soil. It sounds like  you will need to re trench since over 10 years and then spray around the foundation 1 foot up and out with Termidor. You may also want to use apply dust like Delta Dust into wall voids for the spiders and other pest.

  • Asked by Fred from Warren, Mi
    09/13/2015
    Q
What should I use to get rid of subterranean termites in my garage?
    A

We recommend that you trench and drill and apply Termidor SC for subterranean termites in the garage and around the structure. If treated properly, it will eradicate colonies within 90 days and bind to the soil and offer 10 years worth of protection. You will want to measure the lineal feet around the structure to determine how much product you will need to purchase for the application. Please take a few moments to review our article and videos on How to Get Rid of Termites prior to treating. For the garage, you will come out 2 inches from the foundation wall and drill a hole every 10-12" apart. You will apply 4 gallons (every 10 lineal feet) of mixed solution into the holes.

  • Asked by Ken from Saratoga Springs, Ny

    Q
What is an equivalent to Termidor SC that can be shipped to New York State?
I am looking for the best pesticide for spraying around the perimeter of the house to eliminate ants in upstate NY.
    A

Unfortunately, there really is not a product that has the same active ingredient as Termidor SC for ant control that we are able to ship to New York.  An excellent non-repellent insecticide for ant control in New York is Arilon Insecticide.

    Q
Can Termidor SC be applied on grass in the yard for fire ant treatments?

How do you treat areas for termites that are decked against the home at ground level?
we have a deck in the suspected area that is 10 inches off the ground with no access underneat making it impossible to trench

  • Asked by Pete from Huntington Beach, Ca
    02/14/2017
    Q
Can I spray Termidor SC on my palm trees to kill spider mites?
    A

Termidor SC can only be applied around the foundation of your home or other building structure for control of ants and other listed insects. You cannot use the product out on or around the trees or fences because it is not labeled for this type of application. We recommend using our most popular product for spider mites, Talstar P. Talstar P is known to have a pretty good miticide effect for these plant-infesting pests. When Talstar P is over-used the mites are known to build up a resistance to the active ingredient. The other choices would be to use a Horticultural Oil or an insecticidal soap. Both of these products work best when they make direct contact with the pest and both products are known to cause discoloration to spruce trees. The pro to using one of these products is that spider mites cannot build up a resistance to them.

  • Asked by Michael from Mebane, Nc
    02/20/2017
    Q
Where is the best place to spray Termidor, on my brick foundation, the grass, or between the two?
My house is on a cement/brick slab.
    A

Termidor SC is applied 1 ft up and 1 ft out directly up against the foundation for a crawling insect barrier 2-4 times per year depending on the rate used (see product label for complete mixing instructions). If treating for subterranean termites, the product is applied in a 6 X 6 trench and in drilled holes up against the foundation. Please take a few moments to review our treatment article on How to Get Rid of Termites for more detailed information on a successful eradication program.

    Q
How do I treat a tree with termites in it?
    A

Termidor SC is a great option for fire ants inside of a tree. There are two options that you have when applying this product. It can either be done as a drench around the tree or you will inject the product directly into the termite cartons. The rate is 0.8 fl oz per gallon of water.

Please check out the Supplemental Document that explains how to do treatments.

  • Asked by Veronica from Bowie, Md
    03/24/2017
    Q
What can I use to treat an active termite infestation inside my home? Why can Termidor SC not be used inside?
    A

Termidor SC can be used for small spot treatments indoors if you know exactly where the termite infestation is and can treat it directly. If you are unsure of where the infestation is and would like to treat indoors, Phantom Termiticide would be a good option.

  • Asked by Doug from New York
    06/03/2017
    Q
What's the best way to apply Termidor SC in drilled holes in concrete?
my driveway is attached to my house and connected to my stoop, which if I look in my basement is where I've seen mud trails; right underneath my stoop in the double 2x4 sill plate. Ok going to apply termidor sc with a trench on the other areas but my question is after I drill the holes in the slab which I hear is every foot, how do I apply the product? Do I just pour it in? And how much? And also how deep does the drill have to go into the ground?
    A

Termidor SC can be applied in drilled holes every 10-12 inches by using a funnel or a sprayer set on a pin stream setting.  The hole needs to drilled deep enough to apply 1/2 gallon of finished solution to each hole.
