    Q
Is Termidor SC labeled to kill roaches?
    A

Termidor SC cannot be used indoors for roach control however can be used as an exterior perimeer foundation treatment outside the home. Termidor SC is mixed at 0.8fl oz per gallon of water and should be applied using a handpump sprayer to treat 1ft up and 1ft out from the foundation, around windows, doors, etc.

For roaches indoors, we would suggest one of our Roach Control Kits for a complete treatment as it takes a combination of insecticide, insect growth regulator and roach bait along with repeat treatments to eradicatePlease read over our Roach Control Guide to learn how to successfully control roaches:

    Q
If Termidor SC was in the root zone, will the fruit ever be ok to eat?
    A

As long as your fruit tree is not directly sprayed with the Termidor SC or so close to the treatment area that runoff or overspray comes in contact with the fruit, Termidor is safe to use and is not a systemic (not absorbed by the roots).  General rule of thumb is that you should keep Termidor treatments at least 10 feet away from any edible vegetation and you should discard anything that may be contaminated with a direct spray.

    Q
Could I pour Termidor SC onto the ground above and around?
If I know where the colony is located.
    A

Termidor SC can only be applied around the foundation of a structure. It is not labeled for areas away from the structure. Termites will stay below the soil and can have multiple colonies on the property. Termites are actually beneficial insects and in a setting out in your yard they are great to have around to keep everything in balance. If you feel you must kill them though, you can drench the soil with a general insecticide like Talstar P as directed.

    Q
What is the reason that Termidor cant be used inside as a spot spray for carpenter ants?
    A
The label of a product is the law, and the manufacturer and the EPA decided on a label that does not permit Termidor to be used indoors for ants or other insect control, only termite control.  We are not sure exactly why, but the label is the law so we cannot recommend using a product against what the label says.  We do have an excellent product to place inside the home for carpenter ants called Maxforce Carpenter ant bait gel.  It is in our carpenter ant kit and has a very high success rate.

    Q
Will Termidor SC kill brown scorpions found in Georgia?
    A
Termidor SC will most likely kill scorpions. Since it is not labeled to do so, we can not tell you how effective it would for this use. We usually recommend Cyper WP for scorpion control. Cyper WP is also available in our scorpion control kit

    Q
How long is Termidor effective indoors when applied as a spot treatment indoors?
    A
Termidor SC can only be used to spot treat for termites in wall voids indoors. When used properly Termidor SC will last for about 6 weeks in wall voids. If you want a longer lasting product for termites in wall voids, Bora-Care would be a good choice.

    Q
What's your opinion on the best approach for termite control, the Bait Systems, Termiticide liquid, or both?
    A
The most superior treatment hands down for termites is a liquid foundation treatment.  This is because the point of the treatment is to completely surround your home.  You should follow the instructions as outlined in our How To Do A Termite Treatment Article.

    Q
For perimeter ant treatment, how long before I can disturb the soil?
I need to treat for carpenter ants, but some of my beds against the house will need some planting, new mulch, etc. Should I re-treat in spots where soil is disturbed? Or will the product still work? It will be almost impossible to just leave that 1-foot band around the house untouched.
    A
When you apply Termidor for ants around the home you should apply 1 foot up onto the foundation and 1 foot out onto the soil.  Even if you do disturb some of the soil, you will still have some residual on the house if any ants are around.  Of course it will not harm anything if you retreat the areas that you disturb.  You should spray at least twice a year for ant control around the home.

    Q
Is it true that Termidor is essentially ineffective on exposed wood (for termites) once it has dried?
    Is there no residual benefit?
    A
Termidor SC is formulated specifically to bond to soil molecules and will last for around 10 years when applied properly to soil. When applied to wood Termidor SC will last at most for about 6 weeks. If you are looking for a long lasting product to treat or protect wood you should check out Bora-Care.

    Q
    Termidor treatment in basement
I recently found evidence of carpenter ants in one of the bedrooms in my home and I also found a frass pile in the basement near the floor beams. Can I use termidor in that wooden floor beam area to treat any potential nests? And would I be able to use some termidor in that bedroom that I observed carpenter ants activity?
    A
Termidor can only be used indoors if you are injecting it into a wall void or piece of wood and not applying it out in the open along baseboards or window sills like you would other pest control products.  Termidor is mainly intended for use around the outside perimter when used for ants.  We do sell a carpenter ant kit that is for indoor/outdoor use which is our most popular product for carpenter ants when you do not know where the nest is.   You could either use the carpenter ant kit inside and/or use Termidor as an injection in the area where the frass is hoping you contact the nest directly.

    Q
How to treat a new home with Termidor?
We are getting ready go build a new home this fall. Do you recommend treating the entire ground underneath the basement floor before it is poured? Will the termidor sc be just as effective if we put it in the trench around the footing of the basement which will be 10 ft deep or must the termidor sc be applied to a trench that is only 6 inches deep? Is it necessary to treat our entire area of land that the house will sit on as an old house was there before?
    A
If you are building a home you should treat the ground before any footings or slabs are poured.  This is because you will never have the opportunity again to treat underneath slabs.  When treating these areas, you are supposed to apply 1 gallon of Termidor per 10 square feet.  Treat all areas that will have a slab poured including basements, patios, porches, and garage slabs.  Then, when the house is completed and all grade levels have been placed next to the house, you should do a 6 inch trench and treat around the home as well.  This is the proper way to treat a new construction home.

    Q
Do I have to drill and treat the wall where the attached garage meets the house?
House is on slab with attached garage. Also wondering about wood deck directly up against house. Do I treat around deck or have to remove boards up against house so I can treat soil directly against concrete slab?
    A
The goal is to treat against the foundation around the entire house.  So yes, you should drill the slab in the garage just as if it was a patio slab up against the foundation.  Also, if you are lucky enough to have the boards on your deck running parallel to the house, then you should remove the first 2 or 3 runs so you can trench the ground beneath the deck up against the house.  This does mean a little extra work, but it is the right way to treat your home for termites. Termidor would be a great product to apply.

    Q
    Number of trenches per side?
Directions say "six-inch wide and six-inch deep trench directly against the foundation everywhere the ground comes up to the structure" and fill with Termidor. Just want to make sure, but do I dig more than one trench on one side of house 10 feet apart, or just one trench and add total gallons depending the length of that side?
    A
You will need to dig one continuous trench and just mark it off in 10 ft sections and apply 4 diluted gallons of Termidor Sc for every 10 foot of trench.

    Q
Can I still use Demon WP for perimeter?
I am probably going to be doing a Termidor treatment, but am wondering if continuing perimeter treatments of Demon will have any negative effect on the termidor treatment and vice versa. I have used demon to get rid of spiders and have had great results...no roaches/bugs at all.
    A
When Termidor SC is used as a termite treatment it is put in a trench and then covered up with the back fill and is mainly going to effect subterranean termites. When Demon WP is used as a perimeter treatment it is applied topically and will not contact the trenching treatment at all. You can use both products around the same structure without them interfering with each other as long as you follow the product labels on each product.

    Q
Can Termidor be used for Brown Recluse spiders in a storage shed. How should it be applied ?
I have seen Brown Recluse spiders in my storage shed in my back yard. Would Termidor be the proper product and how should it be applied to the shed and the wood under the shed.
    A
Termidor SC can only be used around the exterior of structures to control spiders. We recommend you use Demon WP on the interior of your shed to control Brown recluse spiders. Demon WP does a fantastic job killing just about any spider that comes into contact with treated surfaces. Demon WP will also kill most other insects which will eliminate the spiders food source and make your home and property a less favorable hunting ground. Demon WP does not offer an instant knockdown and it can take several hours to a day for spiders to die after they come into contact with the dry residual. Please take a few minutes to read our article Brown Recluse Spider Control to learn how to make your property less favorable to this pest.

    Q
Can termidor be used on trees and plants to kill pests without harming the plants?
    A
Termidor is not labeled for use on trees and plants.  It is only labeled for use around your homes foundation for termites, ants, and other selected pests.  For treating lawn, turf, and ornamental plants, trees, and shrubs that do not contain anything edible, you should Talstar Insecticide.
