    Q
Can Termidor SC be applied to soil that has growing on it?
    A

Termidor SC can be applied to the soil topically (1 ft up and 1 ft out directly up against the foundation) and in a trench for termite control. There should not be any harm done to any grass sprayed.

    Q
Termite tubes are back twice in 3 years since professional service
Termite tubes are back twice in 3 years since professional install, The first time was in laundry room ceiling which is just inside the garage in the front of the house. - they foamed that area and it seems fine now. Now there is one tube coming up from the center expansion joint if the garage. No sighs of any tubes on any interior of exterior walls any part of the house. If this is one spot is in the center expansion joint in the garage (don't know yet) what should te be addressing. At minimum drilling inside the garage and trenching the outside. Maybe drilling center of expansion joint?- they won't re-do the whole house, just the affected area. which seems to be the front. I'm probably going to trench treat the rest of my exterior
    A

If that expansion joint is the only area of activity and Termidor SC was used for the initial treatment, most professionals would just treat that area of localized activity. It is possible the termites there came from a colony deep under the soil surface where they would not have come into contact with the existing liquid barrier. You would treat the expansion joint similarly to how you would treat the foundation, using 4 gallons of solution per 10 linear feet, applying evenly into drilled holes. Instead of placing the holes all on one side, however, you would drill them in a zig-zag pattern along the expansion joint. Please let us know if you have further questions.

    Q
Why do you have to put Termidor SC in a trench?
    A

Termidor SC should be applied in a trench and drilled holes to provide a barrier around the structure where the termites can gain access. They travel beneath the soil so this application is necessary for eradication and protection.

    Q
What pump or tool would you recommend to use for interior drywall injection for spot treatment of Termidor SC?
I'm looking for a pump with an injection needle on a budget.
    A

Professionals would use a sprayer with a crack and crevice straw or termite injection tip to apply Termidor SC into drywall areas, such as that of the B&G AccuSpray with Termite Injection Tip. Keep in mind that you will only apply Termidor in wall voids where there are active termites. An easier way to spot treat would be with a ready-to-use product that comes with a tube and injection tip such as Termidor Foam. You would drill into the infested wood and apply the product directly into the termite gallery. Please see our Termite Treatment Article for more information.

Is Termidor SC good for wood boring beetles?
    A

Unfortunately,Termidor SC is not the best choice for wood boring beetles. Boracare would be the best choice for that. You can also see our article on How to Get Rid of Wood Boring Beetles as well for more information on this topic.

    Q
How do I apply Termidor SC before pouring a tension slab with piers and beams?
I will be pouring a post tension slab with piers and beams and want to pre treat for termites. Where should I apply the Termidor SC? I'm thinking around all the plumbing penetrations & the 2' deep exterior footer. Before the concrete is poured a plastic sheeting will be put down, do you apply the Termidor before the plastic is put down or can you apply it on top of the plastic?
    A

Termidor SC should be applied directly to the soil. It is recommended that you treat around each pier. You will mix at a rate of .80 fl oz. for each gallon of water used. Each 20 oz bottle will make 25 gallons of solution and treats 60 lineal feet of trenching. You could also treat the wood directly with Boracare. You will use a 5:1 ratio. This will last for the life of the wood.

We would also recommend that you check out our Termite Guide. It has very useful information and tips on how to treat and prevent termites.

Temperatures did reach sub zero on a few occasions. Is it still effective?

Termidor SC may be less effective if became frozen while stored in the garage. For the product to work at its full potential it should be stored at room temperature, away from extreme cold or heat. Please check with the manufacturer if you product smells or looks different than it did when you purchased it.  If necessary, you can reach BASF by calling 800-526-1072.

  • Asked by Frank from Lebanon, Or
    05/10/2016
    Q
Is it safe to use Termidor SC around the outside edge of may raised beds to treat carpenter ants?
The raised bed is empty now but plan to plant it in about 30 days with edible plants. Carpenter ants are leaving piles of sawdust at the soil contact with 6" x 6" juniper beams
    A

Termidor SC should only be applied outside within 1 foot of a house or other structure that we are trying to protect. You also should not apply Termidor SC near or on edible plants. The supplemental label of this product does allow for treatment of active carpenter ants in landscape timbers: in this case, the Termidor SC finished solution would need to be injected into the wood where the ants are found. A safe option for use around the outside of the raised bed would be to use a bait such as Advance Carpenter Ant Bait Granules.

    Q
What is the interior version of a Termidor to target ants?
I want to use the Slow contact Kill method Like a TERMIDOR Type product. ONLY for the ( Interior of a House ) what is the best INTERIOR ANT Residual hands down ? Wes~
    A

Phantom Insecticide would be a good option for ants indoors. It is a non-repellent product like Termidor SC. It does have a different active ingredient, however, it is a very good product for interior and exterior use. The mixing ratio is 3 fl. oz. per gallon of water.

    Q
Can I mix Termidor with a weed killer?
I am working around several large warehouses and would like to do both at once to save some time.
    A

Due to the nature of Termidor SC it would not be advisable to mix it with anything else. Adding in other products could decrease the non repellency effect of Termidor SC.

    Q
Do I have to dig a trench around my pillow blocks under my house to treat for termites?
    A

If the pillow blocks are under the surface you will not need to dig around them for you treatment. You will want to focus on treating outside around the structure for your trenching area so that the solution will absorb into soil enough to leave a residual where the termites are migrating from. Please let us know if you need more information.

Do Exterminators still drill in the basement walls and sill plates?
    A

If the basement is finished, it is still recommended to drill into the walls and sill plates. We recommend to drill 1/2 wide hole every 12 inches and do your best to apply Termidor SC at the same rates as in the trench. 4 gallons mixed solution per 10 feet.

    Q
Can I use Termidor SC to treat Florida carpenter ants that have infested some of my trees?
I have ants in most of my trees and the trees are dying, so I need something I can spray on my trees and that won't bother my dogs
    A

For prevention and/or control of existing or future infestations of termites or carpenter ants in decking  and fencing materials, landscape timbers and similar nonstructural wood-to-soil contacts, trees, and utility poles, apply 0.06% Termidor SC finished dilution (or foam) by the following methods.

If possible, locate and treat the interior infested cavity by injection. Nonstructural wood-to-soil contacts may be treated as a spot application or continuous treated zone.

Apply Termidor SC to the soil as a drench or by rodding around the base of the points of soil contact. Rod holes must be placed 3-inches away from soil contact points and spaced no more than 12-inches apart along the perimeter of soil contact points.

    Q
How much Termidor SC is needed around each cinder block support under a mobile home?
Upon inspection, there are three out of 20 cinder block supports under a mobile home that termites have crawled up. If I dig a 6" trench all the way around, this will result in 72" of trench. Based on the 10' rule, I'll need 2.4 gallons per cinder block support column?
    A

If you are trenching 6 feet around each column, you will need approx 4.5 gallons of mixed solution. To treat around 20 columns you will need approx. 48 gallons mixed solution. 1 bottle of Termidor will treat 60 feet of trenching.
