    Q
I ordered some Termidor from you today. I want to apply to my front entry entrance.
What is the best way to apply the solution in my concrete entrance? I have a large hammer drill and will drill the holes myself.
    A
We recommend that you drill a hole (1/2" diameter, 18" deep) 2 inches from the foundation wall. You will drill a hole every 10-12" apart and disperse 4 gallons of the mixed solution every ten lineal feet. For 4 gallons of water, you will add 3.2 oz of Termidor SC.

    Q
It rained right after we applied Termidor, do we need to re-do the application?
We dug a trench and applied Termidor around the perimeter of our above ground pool. It unexpectedly rained about 6 hours later. The rain was a light, but continuous. Do we need to re dig the trench and do it again?
    A
You should not have to re-dig and apply the Termidor if it was a light rain, even if it was continuous.  As long as you covered the trench back up after the application and it had a few hours to set you should be fine.  If the trench was not re-covered and it was left open, then it would be receommended to re-do the treatment.

    Q
Can Termidor be used to treat bees?
    A
Termidor is not labeled to treat bees and therefore we cannot recommend it.  Bees are considered to be beneficial since they play a major role in pollination.  Because of this fact, many products are not labeled for bees.  If bees are nesting inside your home or going in and out of an opening, we recommend dusting the opening with Tempo Dust.

    Q
How long does it take for Termidor SC to dry?
Like when u have under your house sprayed with termidor
    A
Termidor SC is a water based product and it will dry in the same amount of time as it would take water to dry. If Termidor SC is applied under your home it can take several hours to dry because the ventilation is usually poor and the sun cannot reach the area.

  • Asked by Janet
    08/02/2012
    Q
Approximately 1700 square foot home, how much termidor?
Most of the the home is surrounded by cement and brick. The front lawn and backyard does touch the walls so we will trench that area. How much termidor for treating the perimeter of a 1700 square foot home? Also, do you recommend a "dam" method while trenching; sectioning off portions while waiting for Termidor to make its way into the soil?
    A
How much termidor you need is dependant on the lineal feet around the house, not the square footage.  Each 20 oz. bottle of Termidor will treat 60 lineal feet.  So every 60 feet around your home you will need one bottle of Termidor.  Most homes need 3 to 4 bottles.  Please follow the instructions in our How To Do A Termite Treatment article.

  • Asked by John from Palm City, Florida

    Q
    Application
I don't know why I did this but instead of dinging the trench up against the foundation, I dug 6" away from it. What are your thoughts? Do i need to re-apply? The one good thing that may make this mistake ok is that the soil here in Florida is basically beach sand.
    A
We hate to be the bearers of bad news but we definitely think you should retreat. With the subterranean termites natural feeding instincts they likely will not surface until they get right up next to the food source, which in this case is your home, which means at this point your home is largely unprotected. Sorry!

  • Asked by Ron from Lake Jackson, Tx

    Q
Can Termidor SC be used to kill ant beds?
SPECIFICALLY BEDS OUT IN THE YARD NOT AGAINST TH HOUSE?
    A
Yes, Termidor will treat ant beds. You can use Termidor as a spot treatment to those beds and where the ants are trailing. Termidor kills by transfer, so when the foraging ants come out and come in contact with the Termidor, they will transfer the active ingredient throughout the ant colony.

    Q
Do you have to fill the trench back in after using Termidor SC?
I recently bought some Termidor SC from you, and I am using the trench method. How important is it to get the trench covered up after soaking? I was told it is real important to get it covered after it soaks in? I couldn't find an answer online.
    A
You must fill the trench back in after using Termidor SC and the back fill should also be treated. If you leave the treated trench exposed, then it will be constantly exposed to the sun and the Termidor SC will degrade faster. Also, the termites would have to tunnel deeper than the they normally would because there would be no soil for them to travel through, which means they could travel through untreated soil. It is always important to read and follow the product label. Manufacturers do a lot of research and development so that they can tell you the most effective way to use their product. Failure to follow the instructions will no doubt give you sub par results.

  • Asked by Peggy
    01/26/2011
    Q
Will Termidor SC kill subterranean termites in the ground?
    A
Yes. Termidor SC is non-repellent product, which means that the termites cannot sense the product and therefore cannot avoid treated areas. Once the termite passes through the treated area, it inadvertently picks up small particles of the Termidor SC on the hairs of its body and carries it back to the colony. Through normal social interaction such as grooming and feeding the infected termite spreads the Termidor SC to its colony mates. After a short period of time, the termites start to die.

    Q
Can I use Termidor to treat bathtub drain trap if termites were present?
    A
Yes, you can.  Termidor can be used indoors but only as a spot treatment where you have termites in a wall void or a plumbing access.  Typically on a bath trap you would pour 1 gallon of solution over the trap into the soil.

  • Asked by Scott from Virginia

    Q
What precautions do I need to take when applying Termidor SC?
I will be applying Termidor SC by myself and I have a spray bottle and the correct mixing ready to be set up. How should I take precautions to protect myself during application. Should I wear certain clothing with face mask and head covered?
    A
The best way to protect yourself when using any type of insecticide is to read and follow the product label. Page 2 of the Termidor SC product label specifically tells you what precautions need to be taken before, during and after the application. You only need to wear a face mask if you will be doing the application in a poorly ventilated or enclosed area. All other applications will require you to wear long sleeves, long pants, shoes and socks and gloves. Be sure to wash your hands after the application before you eat, drink, chew gum or use the restroom.

  • Asked by Ram from Manvel, Tx 77578

    Q
What product do you recommend to kill ghost ants inside and outside the house?
I see ghost ants enter the house through weep holes around the house. They are also visible on the vegetation (vegetable and fruit trees) plants. Is there any product (in liquid) that can be applied inside and outside the house and the vegetation area.
    A
The most effective way to get rid of ants will be to use a product that will not only kill the ants that actually come into contact with treated surfaces but will also be transferred back to the nest. There are a variety of liquid concentrates that work with a transfer effect such as Termidor SC, Taurus SC, Dominion 2L and Adonis 2F. All of these products are for use outdoors only and should be sprayed directly on or immediately adjacent to the structure for ant control (they cannot be used indoors and they cannot be broadcast sprayed outdoors and they cannot be used on edible vegetation). You can also use ant baits indoors and outdoors for ghost ant control. Ant Baits will be picked up by the foraging ants and carried back to the nesting area and shared. Most folks choose to use a combination of products. They use ant baits indoors and in sensitive areas and they use the liquid concentrates outdoors.

    Q
I got a 20oz bottle of TERMIDOR from you for termites and notice on the label its also good for carpenter ants
YOU RECOMMEND cARPENTER ANT KIT #2 W/dOMINION 2l AS THE BEST FOR THE APPLICATION....ARE EITHER OK FOR A PREVENTION JOB?
    A
Both Termidor and Dominion work the same way and are great on ants.  We offer Dominion 2L in our carpenter ant kit mainly because it is cheaper than Termidor and many of our customers are looking for low cost alternatives.  Both products work great for carpenter ants.

    Q
Are there any temperature restrictions with Termidor SC?
I worked at a company that said we couldn't apply Termidor in weather under 55 degrees. That might have been a company policy. Are there any temperature restrictions beside the freezing threshold restriction, or even levels of temperature that make Termidor use more or less advantageous?
    A

The only temperature that effects Termidor SC is when it is below freezing.  Termidor SC should not be applied if the ground is below freezing, or it will not take hold

  • Asked by Laryy from Rushville, Il
    07/08/2015
    Q
How much Termidor SC do I apply to each hole in a cement block foundation a termite application?
    A

When treating a block foundation with Termidor SC, you should drill a hole in each void so there would be 2 holes per block.  The holes should be no more than 18 inches high.  Usually, you want to drill on the second row of blocks high from the ground.  In addition to drilling the holes, you should also trench and treat the outside foundation wall and the inside foundation wall if you have a crawl space.  After drilling the holes, you are supposed to apply 2 gallons of solution per 10 lineal feet into the blocks.  For filling trenches and drill holes going vertically into slabs, you should apply 4 gallons per 10 lineal feet.  Please let us know if you have any further questions. Q
How do I apply Termidor SC if there is concrete around my house ?
    A

If you are doing a trench application for termites and there is concrete surrounding the foundation, then holes will need to be drilled all around the home to properly apply the Termidor SC.  The holes need to be drilled every 10-12 inches apart, 18 inches in depth to reach the soil beneath the concrete and anywhere from 3/8 inch – ½ inch in diameter.  Please refer to our Termite Treatment Guide for a more in depth step by step on how to treat your home for subterranean termites.

    Q
If you use Termidor SC in a crawl space, do you need protective gear?
We will be treating ourselves and need to know if we need protective gear (face mask, etc) to use in the crawl space.
    A

You should wear chemical resistant gloves, long sleeve shirt, long pants and close toed shoes when applying Termidor. If you are applying the product in a non-ventilated area, a respirator is will be needed. Termidor is a safe product for most folks to use. We do encourage our customers to read the product label and the MSDS before they purchase a product to be sure they will be comfortable using it.
