    Q
Should I use Termidor SC to treat dirt in the crawl space under my kitchen floor?
I know that I have termites since they destroyed the joists and flooring in my kitchen, but what do I use to treat the dirt in the crawl space? I'll probably be buying Bora-Care to treat all of the wood that I can see under the crawl space.
    A

If you have subterranean termites, you should perform a termite trenching treatment outside the structure and in the crawl space in accordance with our Subterranean Termite Treatment Guide with a non-repellent termiticide such as Termidor SC. Just spraying insecticide on the surface of the dirt will not help and is not an approved or appropriate use.

    Q
What is the best termite treatment for a concrete block foundation and crawl space?
I have a rancher with a 4' crawl space that has been lined with heavy polyethylene and 2 sump pumps have been installed due to the high water table. They constantly de-water the foundation. The liner stops 3" to 4" from the floor sill inside the crawl space to allow for inspection and treatment. There doesn't appear to be a 'shield' on the top of the blocks. What would be the best product to use for termite treatment if I'm worried about odors in the house and I want a long-lasting treatment that is 'environmentally friendly'? Should the blocks be drilled inside with product flowed into the voids, or should there just be a ground treatment outside?
    A

Termidor is the best product for termite treatments, hands down.  It is odorless, and not only that, but it is made to bond to the soil and it will not run off or leach through the soil, so it is perfect for treatments in wet conditions. on a crawl space house,  you would trench and treat around the exterior of the structure, and you also need to trench and treat around the piers under the crawl space.  As long as you are using Termidor, you are not required to treat the inside perimeter or inside the hollow block, but of course if you want to you can.

    Q
We are cleaning crawlspace for mold, then sealing. Can Termidor still be used?
Mold was found in our crawl space. The cleaning company is planing on sealing the space after killing the mold. Will our termidor applications still be able to be done?
    A

If your crawlspace is sealed then no you would not be able to dig a trench and apply Termidor inside the crawlspace, you would only apply it around the outside perimeter of your home.

    Q
Do I need to treat my crawl space if I am doing a trench application with Termidor SC?
I have termites in a very small crawl space where a room was added on. How would I treat this area if I am not able to get in the space?
    A

We actually recommend, if possible, to apply Termidor in a trench inside the crawl space. You will use the same method as you do around the entire structure.  If you are not able to do so it might be best to contact a professional company for options.

    Q
Do you trench on both sides of the foundation for termites with Termidor?
I have subs underneath my house with tubes going up the foundation and 1 post. Can I trench the outside and spot spray the underside/inside the crawl space?
    A
With the superior technology behind Termidor, you only have to trench the outside of the foundation and around each pier/post under the crawlspace. If you were using Dominion 2L you would have to trench the inside and outside wall of the foundation and the piers/posts. You can spot spray in wall voids and you will likely want to drill into the center of the piers as well as doing the trench around them. Everywhere you dig you will follow the method of digging a 6x6 trench and use 4 gallons to every 10 linear feet.

    Q
Do you treat a pier and beam house any differently?
My house is pier and beam. Hence there is dirt under the entire house. (ie we have back steps running along 80% of the back of the house... do I trench at the base of the steps or get under the house and luxuriate as I trench in a 2 foot crawl space?)
    A
To treat pier and beam you would trench around the piers and beams and apply termidor. You would also trench in the crawl space. Please see our article on barrier treatments.

    Q
How long will Termidor last when sprayed outdoors for general pest control?
I plan on applying a 0.06% solution of Termidor to the outer walls of my house and in the crawl space to control ants, spider, etc.
    A
Termidor is only labeled to apply two times a year but may be applied more often if need be.  Typically most insecticides will last up to 3 months at the most depending on climate and weather patterns.

    Q
My brick home is on a foundation with a crawl space, is 6 in trench deep enough?
The footing is 2 ft or more below surface. Also a few years ago a pro treated my home. He drilled holes through brick joints to the foundation blocks and sprayed the holes. Should I do the same. We have no termite signs but living in Alabama I just want to be safe. Also I have a vapor barrier and dehumidifier in the crawl space. Should I treat the crawl space?
    A
No matter whether your home sits on a slab, crawl space, or basement the 6x6 trench is all that is required around the outside of the home along with any drilling you may have to do through concrete barriers like patios and driveways. If the holes in the joints are still there you can certainly inject the product into the same holes they treating in previously as well. Inside the crawl space you would need to trench around any piers that hold up the home but the outside trench would be all that is required for the actual foundation if you are using Termidor. If you use Dominion you would have to trench the inside and the outside of the crawlspace foundation as well as the piers. The Termidor will last for 10 years to protect your home and the Dominion will last for 7 years. Please let us know if you have any other questions and you can review our article on How To Do A Termite Treatment for more tips on doing it yourself.

    Q
My craw space is not that high off the ground can I pour Termidor on top the soil without digging a trench?
    A
Unfortunately, if you are treating for termites, then pouring a product such as Termidor SC on the soil in the crawl space will not be a sufficient application to treat for termites. If there are live termites currently in the space, then you could use Termidor SC to spot treat where the colony is, but otherwise the only other application would be either in a trench or injected into the soil in that area.
