    Q
How much Termidor SC do you add to one gallon of water when foaming? I've heard .80 oz and 20oz.
It makes 25 gallons if finished foam so I would think 20 oz. just want to make sure I'm doing it right.
    A
Yes, you will mix .80 fl. oz. of Termidor SC per gallon of water. Also, you will need to add ProFoam Foaming Concentrate. To Achieve Low Expansion - ½ to 1 ½ oz. Pro-Foam per gal. of pesticide. To Achieve High Expansion - 1 ½ to 6 oz. Pro-Foam per gal. of pesticide. You will also need a foaming device such as Chapin Professional Poly Foamer. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Q
Spraying the whole house for bed bugs, can you spray over 2-3 days? Or one day tx? Small infestation...
Found bed bug nest in one bdrm a month ago. Sprayed with Pyrethin, clean and vacuum everyday, have found less than 24 since. Ordered Temprid SC, Fenvastar, Phantom, SteriFab, and Gentrol IGR from you. Almost have everything in bags, but have no room to put bags out of the way, where do you put the clothes and linens and everything you move to spray? I have thrown away things, washed and dried everything I have. Still have bags of clean clothes in back yard basking in sun, afraid to bring them in and no where to put if I did. Im going crazy. Washing, packing, cleaning, staying up all night to find bugs and have only found 2 in 2 weeks and that was in a bathroom. I have tore apart the 3 bdrms at least 2x each. (the orginal bdrm is now isolated, by tape, dust, caulk, etc). Outside of that room I have found one bug on me...(after cleaning), 4 in the adjoining bathroom, and one in living room, after disposing of mattress, and none in the adjoining bdrms. We have used CO2 traps and cardboard sticky traps and nothing outside of that room. We are a little over 4 weeks into this process. Can I spray one room at a time? or 2 rooms, one night and then the rest the next? Or must I do the whole house at once? I want the bugs gone but feel by myself I cannot do it all in one night. I need help in Texas. Will start spraying tonight.
    A
It really sounds like you have a good hold on this Bed bug treatment. You really want to try and get the whole treatment finished in one day. This will lessen the risk of Beds Bugs getting through any untreated areas. We also sell Nuvan Pro Strips which work wonders on items that are sealed up in bins or bags. Keep up the good work!

    Q
Does Termidor need to resprayed if it rains?
I sprayed Termidor around the perimeter of my house yesterday to try and combat an infestation of crazy ants we have. About 8 hours later it rained. I know the Termidor was completely dry by this point but I'm wondering if the rain rendered it ineffective and if I need to respray now?
    A
Termidor SC is rainfast after 6 hours. If you treated and it dried prior to the rainfall, you should not have to retreat.

    Q
If I have borax powder around the foundation, can I still spray over the top of it with Termidor?
Also, at what point do I stop baiting inside if I am not seeing anymore carpenter ants? I feel like if they are gone maybe focus on on outside to keep them from coming in. Also, should I keep baiting outside with Kit #1 vs a kill and repel approach? I don't want to bait inside if it will draw more in than out or what do suggest now for prevention again since I am not seeing anymore carpenter ants inside the house for more than a week now. Can I be confident that they are gone or just regrouping?
    A
No, Termidor SC cannot be sprayed on top of any type of powder/dust. If you are no longer seeing activity inside, there is no need to continue baiting. More than likely, they have taken the bait to the colony and eliminated it. You can spray Termidor SC around the perimeter of your home outdoors only. This should only be sprayed twice a year. It is likely that they have been eliminated from your lawn/home if you are no longer seeing them.

    Q
Can I mix Talstar and Termidor together @ gallon doses?
    A
No, Talstar P and Termidor SC should NOT be tank mixed. Termidor SC can only be applied outdoors. Talstar P can be applied to indoor cracks and crevices and outdoors. If mixed together they will be ineffective as Termidor SC is a non-repellent. We are unsure what you are treating for so please provide additional information so that we can offer you more information.

    Q
    Altriset vs Termidor
Can you please explain the difference between Altriset and Termidor? Which one do you recommend for a termite treatment?
    A
Altriset Termiticide and Termidor SC are both used as an outdoor treatment for termites. Altriset is labeled only for subterranean termites. The active ingredient is chlorantraniliprole. Altriset is labeled Reduced-Risk by the EPA and presents no health risk to humans or domestic animals when used as directed. This product is only labeled to last for at least 5 years in the soil. Termidor SC is labeled for all kinds of pests, including termites, ants, crickets, etc. Termidor SC cannot be used on pets for any reason. It does last for 10 years in the soil.

We recommend Termidor SC for a termite treatment due to how long it lasts in the soil.

    Q
Termites are eating the hard wood trees and palm trees in my yard. Can I treat the soil around the trees with out harming them?
    A
Termites do not normally attack live, healthy trees so you most likely will not find any products that will work as a ground barrier around the trees.  Most people are primarily concerned with protecting the big investment, their home, and Termidor SC would be the product to use for that.  It is only labeled to be used adjacent to the structure though.  Please take a moment to read over our article on "How to do a Termite Treatment" for complete details.

    Q
How do you avoid drilling into a water pipe under a concrete slab?
When doing a perimeter treatment, somewhere there will be gas, sewer, electrical, and water supply lines. Some of these may be under a concrete slab. What precautions do professionals take when drilling through concrete to avoid damaging these?
    A
There are a few options to use before digging a trench for termite treatment. Every state has a “call before you dig center”  dial 811 from any cell phone and be connected to your states center or google search  “ THERE STATE  811” to get the toll free number.  This is a FREE service to all homeowners. When they call, they provide the type of work they are doing(digging trench for termite treatment) and other  required information, then within 3 business days the utility members in your area will come out and mark your underground lines from the street into the meters on the house.

    Q
Foam version - Boracare vs Termidor
Is it possible to make a foam version of Termidor 80 WG? What kind of equipment to use for that? Should I use Boracare for the wall over Termidor since Boracare has lifetime protection?
    A

Yes, Termidor 80 WG can be used as a foam. However, Termidor 80 WG is a restricted use product. It can only be purchased by a licensed pest control operator.   You will use a Poly Foamer sprayer and ProFoam Foaming Concentrate. We would recommend using Termidor SC. Termidor SC should not be used indoors unless there is an active infestation and you know exactly where it is. You would treat the area directly.

Boracare can be used when treating the remainder of structural wood in a 5:1 solution. Concentrate application in areas susceptible to attack, to include all sills, plates, floor joists, piers, girders and subfloors. Treat all exterior wood including siding, facias, soffits, eaves, roofing, porches, decks and railing. If Boracare is the sole preventative treatment for subterranean termites, a 1:1 solution must be used.

    Q
Identifying the foundation of a typical house
I am trying to understand the basics of identifying the foundation perimeter of a typical single family house. Here in the desert, houses are built primarily from wood and stucco, and almost all newer houses seem to be constructed in a similar way. One area I find confusing is the recess that is commonly created for the front entrance. In most houses I see around here, if one is standing at the front entrance, one is standing under the roof. Should termite treatment be applied around this recess or should it hug the exterior walls of the house as well as the front entrance door as closely as possible? In the case of an attached garage, I have read in the Q&A that it usually does not sit on top of the main foundation, but is just like a concrete slab patio, so one should drill holes along the walls that have living space behind it. However, all the attached garages I see around here are marked with the imprint "Tension Slab - Do not Penetrate". Doesn't that mean that one should not drill anywhere on the garage floor?
    A
No matter how the house is constructed, the perspective area of treatment against the foundation should be treated either drilling into the attached concrete or trenched in the soil. It is recommended to drill into the concrete floor of an attached garage along the attached walls adjacent to the interior of the structure and across the garage floor where it meets a concrete driveway. The objective is to make sure all areas around the structure are properly treated so that when termites enter they will come into contact with the product that you apply.

    Q
Can Termidor SC be applied to a trench past the foundation hedges?
Most of my foundations perimeter is covered by hedges which make it impossible to dig a trench at the foundation line. Can I did a perimeter trench along the outside of the bushes and apply Termidor SC?
    A
No, Termidor SC cannot be applied past the foundation hedges. The label recommends that you remove or prune away plants, shrubs or tree branches that touch the structure. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Q
I have an old house with a single brick foundation the has has some termite damage
I have not found any active but had some major damage and want to be sure it is taken care of. My Dad owned a pest control Company and it was one of his homes so it may have been treated but I want to make sure. I understand the bucket treatment at the rate of 5 Gl per 10 foot but we had a spray rig and a 55 gallon drum. How can I treat the under side of the foundation with out the rig? What is the best chemical witht he longest residual on the market today. I have not used since it was Dursban TC and I have had trouble with my home treated with that
    A
We would recommend Termidor SC which will stay in the soil up to 10 years.  For your specific application we think it best to speak with BASF 800-526-1072 the manufacturer. They will be able to give you the best application recommendations.

    Q
Can I drill holes at six inches apart instead of 12 inches and just cut in half the .4 oz dose?
In my mind it seems like more continuous coverage(saturation)
    A
We recommend to mix .8 oz Termidor per gallon of water. We cannot advise to cut the mizing ratio in half. This could jeapordize the effectiveness of the products. You can drill every 6in, but we cannot recommend to cut down the mizing ratio.

i have 2 inactive termite tunnels can spray or have to drill. 1in crawl space& garage.
1company want to drill put in ground crawl space &garage;&one; company wants to spray.the spray is affordable. the drilling is very high but want to work.
    A

We recommend doing a complete Termite Barrier Treatment if you are seeing signs of termite activity. Using Termidor SC will give you a 10 year barrier treatment against subterreanean termites. Termidor SC is applied in a trench and in drilled holes directly around all sides of the structure. It will take approx. 90 days to kill any active colonies depending on their size. You can apply Termidor Foam in the wall voids in the sheet rock to spot treat activity. Where there is concrete you will need to drill directly into the slab. This includes patios and garages. Please read the article below for more information on treating termites.

    Q
    Per feet of Depth
You say to treat using 4 gallons per 10 ft of trench but the label states using 4 gallons per 10 ft per foot of depth. You state one bottle will treat 60 lineal feet. So does that mean if you have 3ft of depth per 60 ft that you would need 3 bottles per 60 ft?
    A
With Termidor SC, you will dig a 6 inch by 6 inch trench around the structure of your home. The depth of the trench will be 6 inches. When mixing Termidor SC, you will use .8 fl. oz. per gallon of water. You will use 4 gallons of solution per 10 lineal feet. One bottle treats 60 lineal feet that way. Three bottles of Termidor SC will treat 180 lineal feet. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

  • Asked by Jeff from Sarasota, Florida

    Q
When treating the perimeter of the house for ants, will Termidor SC harm the local reptiles?
I live in Florida and have many reptiles such as Tree Frogs, Lizards and Snakes around and on the house. Will using Termidor SC as directed be safe for them.
    A
As long as you use the Termidor SC as directed by the label around the home, it will be safe to reptiles and other animals. You may notice a decrease in the amount of lizards and frogs you see around the home however as they are feeding on the pests that are around your home that the Termidor will be eliminating. If they dont have enough food sources around your home to sustain themselves then they may migrate to other areas to try and survive.

Did a trench treatment for termites. Stormed the rest of the day. Will this ruin the effectiveness of Termidor
Termites found around the frame of a vinyl clad basement window. 6 - 8 inch deep trench dug, out 6 feet on either side of the window. Back filled the trench. Two hours later the rain started and continued all day. Should I treat again? How will this alter termidor's effectiveness?
    A
Since you were able to add the back fill before the rain, your Termidor Termite barrier should be fine. You may want to re spray the perimeter 2 feet up and out in 6 months. Please call us at 866-581-7378 with any questions.

    Q
How many ounces would I used of Termidor SC to pre-treat 50 linear feet ? Also, how many gallons of water use?
    The area is 10 X 15 X 10 X 15
    A
One bottle of Termidor SC will treat 60 lineal feet. You will mix 0.8 fl. oz. per gallon of water. You should apply the product at a rate of 1 gallon per 10 sq. ft. Some of our customers also use a 5 gallon bucket and pour the 5 gallons over 50 square foot sections which will be much faster than using a hand pump sprayer which comes out slowly. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Q
Treating Removed Trench Soil - back fill when wet or dry?
Your video states to wait until the Termidor has dried in the trench, then treat the back-fill with Termidor as I fill in the trenches. However, others mention I can backfill while there is still Termidor fluid in the trench and mix it in, while wet. Is this method acceptable? I was planning to do a 10 foot section at a time, and then back-fill right after I poured the treatment in while there is still plenty Termidor to mix it with.
    A
Once the trench is filled with the proper amount of termiticide, cover the trench back with the dirt that was removed. You want the dirt that you place back in the trench to be treated also, so that you have a complete barrier against your house and no untreated soil. If you place the dirt back in the trench while it is still filled with the termiticide, it will mix and be treated. If the ground has already soaked up the termiticide, than you will need to pour extra termiticide on the backfill as you are pushing it back into the trench so it will be treated also.
