If you are doing a perimeter treatment and there is a basement below grade, then the recommended treatment would involve rodding in addition to the standard 6 in x 6 in trench. A professional company would use a long rod attached to a truck spray rig to inject more termiticide every 12 inches to a depth of at least 4 feet. Since a homeowner does not have those tools, you could use a hollow rod or pipe, or a long drill bit (18-24 inches) to help create space to force more termiticide into the ground, ideally at least what you would use for regular treatment, which averages about ½ gallon of solution every 12 inches.
In California, Termidor SC is only labeled to be sprayed along the foundation exterior perimeter to an area six inches up and six inches out from where the ground meets the foundation, it is not to be broadcasted over the yard. If you feel your dog was exposed to the solution before it dried, you need to contact your vet as soon as possible.

Termidor is not a wood treatment product. Timbor is a great product, but it does not penetrate or last as long as another product made by the same company called Bora-Care. Bora-Care is the best wood treatment product available because it penetrates all the way through a piece of wood where Timbor will only penetrate the outer coating. If you have older wood then you should always use Bora-Care. Bora-Care will also stay in the wood forever, preventing any new infestations for years to come.

For Termidor SC to work on Drywood termites, you have to drill directly into the piece of wood the termites are in and inject Termidor into the wood. Termidor does not penetrate into wood, so you have to inject it into the center. It has to touch the termites to work, but the benefit is that it only has to contact a few termites, and then they can pass it on to the rest of the colony.
For Drywood termite treatments on wood, we recommend applying a product called Bora-Care. This product is applied to raw wood and penetrates further than any other product.
Unfortunately, Termidor is only labeled to be used up against the foundation of a structure and cannot be used in lawn applications. We recommend that you select a product that can be transferred back to the colony instead of a product that is effective only on the ants that touch treated surfaces. Ant baits are always a good choice and a granule product such as Maxforce Complete Granules would be an excellent option for ants in your lawn. You will broadcast it across your lawn in the places where you have seen activity or used inside of Bait Plate Stations. Maxforce Complete has a unique formula with a mixture of proteins, simple sugars, fats and complex carbohydrates in a food-based granular structure that is irresistible to insects.
For crabgrass control, you should be using a pre-emergent crabgrass killer such as Dimension 2EW Herbicide. This is going to be the best pre emergent product when controlling crabgrass, as it kills the crabgrass in the ground before it has a chance to grow above ground. The timing of the application of your pre-emergent is crucial to successful crabgrass control. In order to work properly, pre-emergent herbicides need to be in the soil before the crabgrass seeds start to germinate. Germination begins generally when the soil temperatures reach 55 degrees. This is around early spring, but the exact month will vary depending on where you live. Your local extension office can give you tips on when you should apply pre-emergents in your area.
Termidor SC is diluted at 0.8 fl oz per gallon of water at the 0.06% rate and dispersed at 4 gallons of solution per 10 lineal feet. Each 20 oz bottle will treat 60 lineal feet/25 gallons of solution. The larger size, 78 oz of Taurus SC, at .06% solution will make 100 gallons and treat 240 lineal feet.
Termidor SC is only labeled for use on inside wall voids. So that would not be the best product for your needs in this case. I would recommend Bora Care for those exposed wall studs.
Termidor SC is not labeled for use anywhere near grazing animals and would not be recommended.
Termidor SC is only labeled to be used adjacent to a structure 1 to 2 feet up and out. It cannot be used in lawns nor can it be used where animals graze.
If you are doing a trench application for termites and there is concrete surrounding the foundation, then holes will need to be drilled all around the home to properly apply the Termidor SC. The holes need to be drilled every 10-12 inches apart, 18 inches in depth to reach the soil beneath the concrete and anywhere from 3/8 inch – ½ inch in diameter. Please refer to our Termite Treatment Guide for a more in depth step by step on how to treat your home for subterranean termites.
Termidor SC should not be applied through a hose end applicator for application to the lawn and flower beds for ant control. It should only be sprayed a couple of times a year directly up against the foundation of the strucutres on the property (1 ft and 1 ft out). We would recommend using Advion WDG Insecticide. It can be used around the perimeter of the home and you could expand the band around the perimeter, for example: you can spray 3 feet up on the foundation and 7 feet out. The active can also be transferred from one ant to another and can be used for direct mound treatments if necessary, as well as surfaces commonly used by ants for foraging such as outdoor edges/frames of windows, doors, utility penetrations, roof lines or eaves, and other structural edges may also be treated. In addition to exterior structural elements, outdoor nesting sites such as refuse collection areas, flower/mulch beds, adjacent tree holes, surrounding turf areas, crawl spaces, or other nest/ foraging sites, and foraging trails can be treated.
Per the Termidor SC label: French drains eliminate water at the footing along a foundation perimeter. They are common in hollow block foundation structures to drain water seeping from the exterior perimeter or underneath the foundation. Soil must be dry before applying to sites with French drains. DO NOT rod through the slab any closer than 24 inches to the French drain to prevent Termidor SC finished dilution seepage and/or damage to the drain or the tiles. DO NOT apply Termidor SC within 5 feet of the sump pump pit and pump. To prevent drainage/seepage from the block into the drain, DO NOT drill through hollow block foundations that border the French drain.
Once French drains have been identified and located, apply a 0.06%, 0.09%, or 0.125% Termidor SC finished dilution as follows:
1. Unplug the sump pump. Inspect sump pump pit for water. If no water is present, the treatment can be made provided the sump pump remains unplugged, or
2. if water is in the sump pump pit, unplug the sump pump and remove four cups of water from the sump pump pit. Mark the water level. Wait 10 minutes and check the water level in the sump pump pit again. If the water level has risen, there is too much seepage to perform the treatment at this time. If the water level does not rise, make the treatment provided the sump pump remains unplugged.
During application, check the sump pump pit every few minutes for the presence of Termidor SC finished dilution. If detected, stop treatment immediately and remove the contents of the sump pump pit before plugging in the sump pump again. Either apply the removed sump pump pit contents to a labeled site or dispose of the removed contents as directed by this label in the Pesticide Disposal section.
Note: For structures with French drains located adjacent to the outside of the foundation, refer to the Structures with Adjacent Wells/Cisterns and/or Other Water Bodies section of this label.
Termidor SC cannot be used away from the foundation of the home/structure unless you are direct treating a carton nest as defined by the Termidor product label. It is not allowed to be used as a trench treatment, drench, or spray on or around a tree out on the property for control of any pest. A better option would be to use a product like Talstar P around the base of the tree if you are concerned there could be termites or other insects in that vicinity. Talstar would safe to use on the tree and would eliminate any insects on the tree, and any that pass through treated soil as well.
Termidor SC is not labeled for use on any bearing fruit trees. We would not recommend eating any fruit grown on the treated trees for at least 1 year.
Since Termidor SC is a non repellent, overmixing could negatively effect the treatment. We recommend to either add more water or start over using the recommended rate of 0.8 oz per gallon of water.
It is not recommended to use Termidor SC with rock, granite, or gravel. Termidor SC is made to bind to soil molecules which allows it to last for 10 years, whereas Termidor applied to porous surfaces such as rock, granite, gravel, or other material will only last and remain effective for a few months. You should dig a trench in the soil against the foundation and/or drill through concrete to apply.
