The ants came back after a week of silence using Advion Ant Bait Arena.

Is this normal or did I do something wrong?

Are the ants still going to the stations? If the ants are not  attracted to these stations, then the ants may be looking for carbohydrates instead of protein, in which case you would need to use a gel bait as well, such as Advion Ant Bait Gel.
