The Victor Rat Trap M326 Pro - CASE (12 traps) has a strong spring, so it can be a little tricky to set. We have a video that shows how to set these traps here. If you are still having trouble, then you may consider using re-useable traps such as the Trapper T-Rex Rat Traps which are easier to set with your hands or with your foot.
