    Q
Will Trimec Southern Broadleaf Herbicide kill Khaki Weed?
I'm desperately trying to find a herbicide to kill Alternanthera Pungens Kunth, aka Khaki weed. It has to kill the deep taproots and also the leaves and stickers.
    A

No, Trimec Southern Broadleaf Herbicide is not labeled to control khakiweed.  Monument is the only herbicide we have that is labeled for khakiweed control in turfgrass.  This article suggests other active ingredients that have shown activity on this weed, but we cannot guarantee they would be effective.

Based on that article, you could consider Blindside or Changeup depending on your turf type.

  • Asked by June from Live Oak

    Q
How do I dilute Trimec Southern? I will be using a 15-gallon sprayer.
    A

Trimec Southern Broadleaf Herbicide is applied at the rate of 0.37 - 0.75 oz per 1,000 sq. ft. The amount of water is not as important as making sure to apply the solution uniformly over the 1,000 square foot section. Most herbicide labels will list how much active ingredient should be used per 1,000 square feet. To calibrate your equipment, for example, mark off an area of 1,000 square feet, and cover that area at your normal pace as evenly as possible. If you used an entire gallon, you would use the recommended amount in 1 gallon of water. If you only use ½ gallon to cover the 1000 square feet then you mix the recommended amount of the product label in a 1/2 gallon of water.

  • Asked by Greg from Defuniak Springs, florida
    08/17/2019
    Q
What caused my centipede to turn yellow two days after spraying Trimec Southern Broadleaf Herbicide?
I've used .5 ounces per gallon for a couple of years now never had this issue. Could it be the temperature being so hot? Also I mowed the grass the following day after spraying. I read one of the question where it stated to wait two days before mowing. Hopefully the centipede grass will pull through.
    A

When applying Trimec Southern Broadleaf Herbicide, it should be applied when temperatures are between 50 and 90 degrees.  If it’s hotter than 90 degrees, it can cause harm to your grass.  Centipede is already somewhat sensitive to the Trimec, so applying it during stressful conditions, like temperature and mowing, can cause harm. Keep in mind when mowing, you should not mow 2 days before application, and 2 days after.
