What is the rate of Annual Tree & Shrub Insect Control Concentrate for larger trees with a DBH of greater than 10 inches? My Summit Ash trees are about twice that size.

Do I use twice the ratio (60 oz/gallon) and pour up to 4' from the tree? Concerned mostly about ash borers. Emerald or regular. We also use Tanglefoot for canker worms here.

Answer:

You can use Annual Tree & Shrub Insect Control Concentrate on trees that are larger than 10" in circumference: you will just use more product. So you would still use 1 oz of concentrate per inch of trunk circumference diluted in water and applied around the base of the tree (not applied directly on the bark).

This product does have a low percentage of active ingredient. If you have large trees, then we suggest using a systemic product with more active ingredient in the concentrate so that you will not need as much product for each tree. Dominion 2L is a great option: you would use 0.1 - 0.2 oz of concentrate per inch of trunk diameter (not circumference) and apply the same way as a drench around the base of each tree.
