Drexel Imitator Plus and other glyphosate-based products work best when plants are actively growing and ideally in a temperature range of 65 to 90 degrees.  Even if your weed is still green, it's not growing actively enough in winter temperatures for the active ingredient to move from the leaves to the roots, opposed to applying it in the Spring and Summer months.
