Bonide Fruit Tree Spray Concentrate is labeled to protect apple trees from listed insects and disease so you would want to apply before they become an issue.  After you apply the Bonide Fruit Tree Spray Concentrate it will kill for up to 1 week. If insects or disease is still present, you can apply a 2nd time. Bonide recommends alternating insecticides when treating to help prevent resistancy to active ingredients. You could alternate with a product such as Fertilome Triple Action.
