Will Hi-Yield Ant Killer Granules kill the colony or does it only kill the ants that come in contact with it?

I have a bunch of little black ants outside trekking their way into the house. I want to get the colony and queen not just kill in contact. Should I bait them so they take that back to the colony and then apply this as a barrier and control outside? Please advise, thank you!!

Answer:

Hi-Yield Ant Killer Granules will only kill ants that contact a treated area, it does not get carried back/transfered to others.  Maxforce Complete Granular Bait would be a better option for baiting to kill the colony.  Just do not apply the 2 in the same areas as the HiYield can contaminate the bait.
