Will Milky Spore applied now in early April protect my less than one year new lawn?

Or is there something I should use that will more immediately address the problem? I live in Los Angeles. We've had a warm winter and already had an over 90 degree day in early April. Our grubs are quite large.

Milky Spore Powder can be applied anytime the ground is not frozen and will only start to be effective when the Japanese Beetle Larvae start to feed, so now would be a good time if you are already seeing activity.
