I have Vitex growing as a privacy hedge and dodder has attacked it. Will Scythe kill the dodder? Will it save the Vitex?
Dodder can be very tricky to control effectively, especially without potentially harming the desirable plants. Some articles such as this one do suggest that Scythe Herbicide can be effective in controlling dodder. You need to be very careful that you are only spraying the leafy and green parts of the dodder and not the desirable plants since Scythe will harm any leafy/green plants you spray with it. You also want to remove other host plants like weeds in the area so that dodder does not attach to them. We recommend contacting your local Cooperative Extension office in case there is tracking of dodder in your area.
