Will this product keep big chickens away? Is it ok to spray it right on the ground (bark covered)?

I have chickens (not mine) that are digging up my garden, spreading the bark, tearing apart my drip sprinkler system... ... The only plants in the curbed area are 3 evergreens and a rose bush. There are about 5 of them that visit the bed in front of my house regularly and I don't know what to do to keep them away.
